I say try again - don't give up. It's never too late to try again. It's been a two year odyssey for me so far and I'm still not sure I'll pass the physicals. Wait six months and apply again - they wouldn't tell you to do that if it wasn't possible to get in on a second try.

You've come this far my friend - one last shot?

Got an interview date for the 16th of Jan 05, anyone else joining me in London? I would very much appreicate it if anyone who went through the process could give me some insight into the kind of questions they ask during the interview. I have literally gone through this entire thread, for the most part, there is a debate about somebody who possibly works there (or not)....anyway, nothing specific. Any help would be greatly appreciated as at this point i am shaking in my shoes.

Many thanks/Merry Xmas

Hey Weis,

I hope you do well at your interview coming up! I just want to ask you, when do you apply and how did you apply? Online or you sent your resume out to their office?

I applied online about 5 months ago, and just got a response from them 2 weeks ago. Perhaps it was just down to luck, in any case, i would imagine that they are inundated with applications.

Good luck

hello everyone!
Im new here and thank goodness Ive found this forum, else I'll really be in a total loss.

Im from Singapore and had just received notification to attend a Preliminary Screening Interview for EK.

Is it different from the global assessment rounds that some of you guys have been talking about?

Cos' I was told in the letter that this screenign will take a large part of the day and if you made it, there will be a final round at another venue a few days later.

May I know what should I be expecting on the first day?
Anyone knows?

Ive got a disturbing question.
It has been months since Ive posted this application and Ive put on quite a bit of weight during this festive season. *sob**
May I know are they very strict with your weight?
Are there any current EK crew which are more to the chubby side?

Any Singaporeans flying for EK now?

And kind advices will be very much appreciated!!!
I really want to be a FA!!
Many thanks & Cheerios!

Sorry, after reading thru' 30++ pages of postings, Ive gathered that EK actually favour blondes or caucasians a lot?!

Im Chinese, is there any EK crew who are Chinese too?

Yes the do. they recruit in Singapore, Shanghai and HK as well as Japan, Korea and most Asian countries. I did my prelim in HK and final in Bangkok. There are a number of Asian EK crew and wannabes on these forums.

Go for it!

LOL at 183cm and 85kg I'll probably be the largest person in my group. Weight isn't a problem as long as you're fit and can fit in a uniform. A few curves here and there (in my case well concealed love handles) won't stop them. Smile big...

Hello to everyone on this group. I've read through every single comment made here regarding the emirares selection process. I recently applied online and i'm just waiting to download my photos onto the application form. This group has been extremely helpful and informative. I was wondering, is there any room for career progression if you are successful in getting through as an emirate cabin crew member. I mean, once you've got your 'foot in the door' so to speak is there any way you can progress.
I was also wondering just how hot it is out there in dubai...it might sound like a stupid question but i was telling my friends about how I was interested in applyin and, obviously cabin crew wear make up, my friends were saying, 'it'll just slide off'!! Is it that hot?

Also is the pay for emirates considered to be good in comparison to other airlines?? One final question, does the individual cabin crew member pay their own rent for their accommodation or is it actually already paid...this again may be a ridiculous question i just wondered.
thanks
Kelly x

thanks

Hello Kelly26

Just a short reply to your questions:

Just recently at my Virgin Atlantic Interview I have spoken to one of former Emirates cabin crew. She said that one of the main reasons why she had decided to quit her job, was the heat itself...in summer 50° C as far as I know. And make-up does slide off....but don't worry, almost everything is air-conditioned...from your accomodation ( which is paid by Emirates ) to Airports, Vans, Aircraft,.... so it is up to you, wheather you can stand the heat or not. She said that after a year and a half she had just about had it. So if you are resilient and quick to adjust, you'll be just fine.

If you don't want to be accomodated at Emirates Appartments, you can get the money instead, but you will have to find your own place to stay....All in all, accomodation is paid and provided.

And the money...as far as I know....it is OK, I think you also get extra flying pay such as flying allowances, duty free commission, etc. so it sums up. Also all your hotels at layovers are baing paid by Emirates

Good Luck with your interview

L.

hey kelly,
check out www.emiratesgroupcareers.com and click on cabin crew, it will answer a few questions about pay and also rent. I've heard its around 40degrees celsius in Dubai but I'm not 100% sure on that one.
