I thought that perhaps emirates wanted the glammy sort of people in their team but in recent times I think i've changed my perception. People aren't all the good looking stereotype i onece thought. I have met quite a few Emirates crew and they seem just like normal people. Is this quite true???

I used to use studio quality photos in my applications would it be better just to make my own photos to be more realistic?

Anybody know about any canadian stops on the hiring circus for Emirates F/A's. Also, does simply applying through the website really works or not worth it? Thanks for the updates...

Hi Guys

I will try to shed some light onto 3 subjects - yes it is worth applying online - I did, bypassing the long "open day" selection process and was invited to the group interveiw with about 50 others ( some of whom did attend an open day), I was employed and have been happily working for them for a while now.

Professional pictures are just that professional - stick with them if you want to impress, Emirates is not some budget mates airline - remember the final decision about your application is made by someone who will only see your photo.......sell yourself !!!!!.

Canada, well don't think Emirates actively recruit there at the moment - however having said that, I know some Canadians who have been recruited in Dubai and are allowed to use their home country (canada) as their leave destination etc - rumour has it, flights to Canada are in the works, but we did the crew to do the flights, so guys keep trying !!!!!

Good luck
Cheers Daisy

Thank you Daisy,

I am a male F/A, speak four languages including Lebanese Arabic; I know of them hiring almost exclusively female F/A's (or was told...) but what are my chances. Cheers

Well done PaulE

Hey Dude - big shout out for you. Well done. As Socialflyer mentioned, it would be fab to meet up with that negative little 'know it all'. Petty but its great when the good guy wins. Hope to catch you out there - I start beginning of March too, would be a laugh to swop notes. Send me a PM when you get out there, I will hopefully be half way thru my training by then. Good luck with your medical. And c u out there.

This thread has been great for moral support and advice - good luck to those going thru the process.

Emirates Open Day

Hi everybody!

I attended the Dubai open Day on the 6th of November 2003. I am Romanian and i travelled all the way just to go for that thing, which i tought will be a reall interview. At that time, i was not aware that forums like this existed, and i had no information about how the Open days were. So, i took the chance and went to Dubai, spent 2000 dollars on the plane ticket and hotel , and when the day of the interview came i was just shoked to see more than 1000 people waiting there. I have waited 2 hours just to get it.
We were selected according to our Dubai visa. I was on a visit visa, hence i went toghether with the other ones travelling from abroad .

There were 3 selection steps and after each one, people were being sent home. First they mesured and weighted us.. and many were sent home. Then they took our cvs.. and again many were sent home.. then they put us in a room in groop of 12 to give the written english test. I got till this one. The test was relativelly easy. Just comprehension questions and an essey ( IF you had the chance to have dinner with a famous person - living one- which would that be and why?). I was the scond one in my grup to finish the test, as i found it eassy enough. I handed out the test paper and I was told that we will be adiveced is succesful but they did not have any date!!!!!! I went out and waited more to see what was happening.. talk with other people and found nobody that got a diffrent answer. Everybody was sent home to wait.
I stayed 2 more days in Dubai but no phone call. Had to go back to Romania and did not get anything from them till 13 of December. The letter i got was a computer gerated one as follows:

"Thank you for your recent contact, seeking employment with the Emirates Group.

We will consider your application for current opportunities in competition with other candidates and should a suitable position be identified within six weeks, we will be in contact with you to discuss the next stages in our recruitment process. If you do not receive an invitation from us for an interview within 6 weeks please assume that your application has not been successful on this occasion , or that we currently have no suitable opportunities to consider you for.

We request that if you have not applied on-line as a new applicant at www.emiratesgroupcareers.com can you complete our On-line Application Form when you are able to or we will not be able to consider you for future positions when searching our Database for suitable candidates.

Thank you again for contacting Emirates Group

Yours sincerely,

Recruitment Manager
EMIRATES GROUP "

I guess this means i was not sucesfull! why they did not send me a rejection letter then??? And i doubt there was any problem with my english test. I JUST KNOW IT WAS OK. And if i made it till the english test i suppose i was qualified enough, right?
Anyway, some people told me that they are just waiting for a romanian screening day or a nearby location in order to contact me. I hope it will be like this. And one more thing!! When u attend an open day, if you are unsuccesfull, they block you online application so that you cannot update it?? I've seen some posts with people saying so. My online application is ok, i updated it many times after .

DOES ANYONE HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE AS MINE? IF YES, PLEASE REPLY, AS I WANT TO UNDERSTAND AND FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO NEXT.

Thank you all .

EK 2nd time around

Hi Guys,
I wonder if anyone knows of someone in this situation??
I got a position as cabincrew with EK early last year and signed contracts, did most of the medical etc...however due to personnal reasons i had to delay going to Dubai..Ek were ok about this and gave me 6 months in which to go...I decided at the end of the time I still couldnt go so They told me to confirm in writing that they could take me off file which i did..this is so you can reapply again in the future with out a 'black mark 'against your name so to speak..anyway about 2 months ago i called them to see if i can attend an open day in the uk and they said being as id already got the job last year and done my 2 days of interviews etc that i should just go to see them again for the personality test and a final interview..I have to take with me more photos, copy of my passport and visa permit.
does anyone know of a similar situation or the same thing thats happened to them or a friend? i just wonder what are my chances? will they ask the same question? etc...How long b4 i will hear? Blah,Blah
Many Thanx.

I seriously am getting fed up with the Emirates recruitment process!!! I know that I meet the essential criteria and I know i would be good for the job I've done countless interviews already and been invited back from open days. I can't get passed the group interviews!!! I dont understand how some (not all) still get passed this stage when they didnt' do good at the interviews!!! I know that if they just gave me a go at the panel interviews i could at least show them that I would be great in their team!!

I feel like taking basic psych courses to study the way they look at things.

Out of walk ins i know so many are not ready for EK and I know now that I am. I have already been shortlisted with a airline that is very difficult to join and have made it through with other airlines...why not EK???

I dont want to sound negative...i'm just getting a bit ????? Im still going to continue again and again with my Applications but what am i missing???

Found Nemo!!! Dont give up!!! i'm sure with the sheer determination you have you will make it through the rain!! I guess you just didn't make their criteria that time. I sometimes believe that for each intake they have a criteria that is varied. 5 or 6 different personality types...then...they look for these in the groups then take them through to panels.

I found Forrester OK!!!!
