BA look

Hi Guys,
This not an important thread, but just interested in finding what you have to say. I had an interview for BA out of Heathrow last year but didint get a job. It was my first ever Cabin Crew interview . I realise that maybe the anwsers I gave where not customer orientated enough, I blame myself for not getting through nobody else, I hope to make another application soon, as the 12 month period since initial application is close to passing. Can anyone tell me if British Airways have a certain look that they prefer combined with previous Cabin Crew experience? This has been on my mind since the interview. In BA's requirments they dont ask for photo's like some airlines and dont seem to have a height for weight restriction. I'm just curious what people think. Thanks Guys
Crewboy.

BA Interview

Hi guys..

Did anyone on here have their BA interview on the 17th of March or close to then?

If so, has anyone had a start date yet.

Also, how long does it usually take on average, from getting congrats email to being given a date.

Regards

I sent off my application for BA connect yesterday to be considered for out of Manchester or Birmingham. Anyone have any info, eg what does interview day consist of (presumptious i know, but interested) would appreciate any input.
Thanks in advance,

Crewboy,
I could be well off the mark with this but I suggest you read over the various BA interview threads in here as I imagine it will be along the same lines. But stand to be corrected on that tip.

Can anyone tell me how the transfer system from LGW to LHR works? Do you go from LGW into LHR WW of LHR SH? How long is the list and does it work on DOJ or length of time flying? Thanks

Eurofleet LGW

Can anyone help with salary info?

What's the average monthly take home for Eurofleet LGW junior crew?

A mate has just applied and is curious to know.

Cheers!

to the last 3 posters, if you look back over this thread you should find most of you questions answered, there's also a thread on EFLGW in this forum as well that you may find useful.

Cheers all.

The beauty of the new LGW fleet is that unlike the current LGWEF, OneFleet will be part of the NSP. This will effectively make transferring much easier BUT at the same time, there is a lot of negativity surrounding OneFleet which might make recruitment a little tricky.
This negativity is uncalledfor. This will be a fantastic fleet and while you'll work hard, you'll play even harder. The money won't be dreadful and you'll fly to some excellent destinations! Beachfleet, baby!
If, however, you're talking about transfers for current employees, I'd forget all about moving out before the advent on OneFleet (unless you're worldwide). If you're WWLGW, you'll have had your options pack already and should know what's being offered. If you're SHLGW, you'll be unable to leave LGW before doing atleast SOME TIME on OneFleet.

While I'd be cautious to discuss this information about any other fleet, Gatwick EF tends to work out closely to the information provided on the BAJobs.com page. Your basic is around £10,000.00 a year and allowances will normally work out at around £500.00 a month after tax. This information is available publicly on BritishAirwaysJobs.com so I'm not divulging anything that shouldn't be known.

Do you know when people that are just being interviewed are potentially going to start?
Have you heard any rumour about termination at the end of 6 months or being kept on?
Is it EuroFleet or WW, I keep getting mixed messages.
Thanks in anticiapation
You will, I believe, start almost immediately. We're short of crew and we need people to fill the gap until our colleagues from Gatwick Worldwide move up here from October onwards.

To be safe, think that you'll be let go at the end of the six months. This is what the company is employing you on the basis of and to think any differently could lead to difficulties for you six months down the line. I would, however, be shocked if you're not offered a post with us somewhere - be it EFLHR or OFLGW. I doubt we'd train you (£5,000.00 cost, I hear) and let you go after half a year.

You will be at Heathrow Worldwide as that's where the bulk of the shortage is. Indeed, Eurofleet Heathrow are operating a number of flights for Worldwide so it just shows how well crewed they are and how poorly crewed we are.

As for interview tips, this really is a long one to answer and after my morning of boredom, when I finally start doing something worthwhile, I get a call to go out so I must end here. I think I started a thread a couple of years ago with my experiences. Do a search under my username (Eddy) and you'll find it.

EDITED TO ADD : Here's my thread from two years back. http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?t=139164. It doesn't actually have a lot of information about the ass. day but if nothing's been put up by the time I'm back later, I'll put something quite detailed up - just to keep things fresh. My thread might be of interest to RICHHOVE though as it has some information about the training course and acccommodation etc.

Rich, well done mate!

Tips for Interview/Ass. Day

Well, nothing else has been put up so here are a few pointers for the ass. day. Remember that it's been about two-and-a-bit years since I went through it so perhaps things have changes. Maybe Rich will confirm.

1) Arrival at Cranebank
When you arrive, you'll be seated in the large reception area with a host of other hopefuls. There may well be more than just your group going through at the same time, so while you might be sitting with people, you may not see them again.

It's been said before that British Airways plant "moles" in the reception area to see how you interact with "strangers" though I doubt this very much. Still, it never does any harm to try and have a chat to your fellow applicants as it might make the group task later in the day that little bit easier.

2) Introduction
The first thing that you'll do is be given an introduction. The recruiters will give you a brief, 20 minute chat about the company and, depending on the job you've applied for (LGWEF or 6-Month-LHRWW) they'll probably give you a bit of information about the role.

They'll open the floor to questions. Don't ask about expected allowances. Don't ask about what's going to happen to you six-months down the line. These are all things better answered by the line trainers when (and if) you get through.

Order of the next two varies - one half of the applicants will do Group Exercise first while the others will do One-on-Twos.

3) Group Exercise
I know that the "subject" of the exercise has changed, but the aim behind it is still the same. To give you a rough idea of what to expect, you'll be given a piece of paper on which there are 10 names. Some of the names are single people, some elderly, some young. Some have disabilities, others have kids. They all have different likes and dislikes.

You'll also be given a list of activities.

The story behind the exercise is that this group of 10 people have won a prize of a day out! You have to pick the activities that the group will do during the day out but you can only pick three activities.

You have to, working as a team, decide which activities might not be suitable for the entire group (due to factors mentioned above) and which ones might be most appropriate.

The recruiters will then throw a spanner in the works. They'll tell you that you have to leave two people behind. It's up to you (again, as a group) to decide who to leave behind and for what reason.

Tip 1 - A lot of people tend to think that having a massive input will reflect well on you. I'm not entirely sure that's the case. Actively encourage your fellow applicants to get involved. Ask them questions, trying to use their names atleast once during the task. "John, what do you think about leaving Joyce behind? She's da dum de dum de dum...... etc".

Tip 2 - There is no right or wrong answer. If your fellow applicants suggest something that you think is "wrong", offer suggestions as to why you would do something else but don't be critical of their ideas. You may think they're wrong, but they aren't - though nor are you.

Tip 3 - Have fun. Get the job done but have a giggle along the way. This task is not about who you leave out of the day trip, it's not about what activities you choose. This task is about seeing how you work with your counterparts.

4) One-on-Two Interview
Most daunting part of the day? Hell yeah. You'll be ushered in to a room where you'll be sat opposite two members of the recruitment team.

The most important tip I can offer for this part of the day is to print off the questions you were asked in the online application and RE-ANSWER THEM. I was asked exactly the same questions and this caught me off-guard slightly. If you can walk in to the interview and have another set of answers at the ready, it'll reflect well.

Take a couple of hours out the night before the interview. Sit down, read over the questions again and read over your new answers (note - NOT the ones you filled in on the application form....). Make any changes you want but try and commit the answers to memory.

Try to answer as fully as possible, including as many relevant details as you can, but also try and keep your answers fairly brief and to the point. As a rule of thumb, I'd suggest trying to talk for perhaps two-three minutes per answer.

5) After Leaving
More for your own sanity than to help with getting the job, STAY POSITIVE.

I left Cranebank after my interview feeling thoroughly downhearted. I felt that I'd well and truly messed up (particularly in the interview stage - and I'm normally a very confident interviewee) but sure enough, two days later, the "CONGRATS" call came through.

Don't beat yourself up about your performance on the day. Stay positive and forget all about it until you get the call. You might spend two days worrying yourself daft about your performance on the day but end up having been exactly what the recruiters wanted.

FSTE books

Hi everyone...

Hope someone can help. At the moment I'm studying my second book ...The Brands...and I have a question.

Concorde brand? I have a feeling it doesn't exist anymore? And what about the Shuttle brand?

Since I also received Erratum with the books I thought It had all up to-date corrections inside? Cause I know concorde doesn't fly anymore, why haven't they changed this will all the rest of info on Executive Club...etc?

Thanks for clarification in advance

Right you are Luksy. Right you are.

Shuttle still exists as a brand but it's not widely used. Concorde, as you say, is gone. I am trying desperately to remember the questions on the initial test. You're given this on day two of your course and to be honest, it's not the biggest of deals if you fail (you won't - the pass mark is quite low).

If you have problems you can ask the trainers.

You'll find that a lot of the questions are largely common sense. Know things like the name of our CEO (Willie Walsh) and our Chairman (Martin Broughton). Know about the london airports we serve (don't be tempted to just say LHR/LGW as we now use LCY). A general understanding of the company will see you through a lot of the exam.

Check out http://www.wikipedia.org and type a search for British Airways. Lots of seemingly pointless information in there that may actually come in handy on the day!!!!

Best of luck!

Concorde brand does still exist but only in the form of the lounges in LHR and JFK that only invitation concorde card holders can use.
