Smile Need somewhere to live...

Have been househunting all day aorund the Gatwick area and haven't really got anywhere.

Still looking at Horley, but if anyone knows of any houseshares in the Crawley area i'd certainly have a look!

Am male, 22, start training with BA as cabin crew in mid June, am looking to move in around 10th June.

The budget is between £250 and £400 a month, but I don't drive so would need to be pretty close to the town, as well as near the train station or 24 hour bus!

PM if you know of anything.....

I totally agree with what you say with reguards to keeping everyone on one way or another. I also cannot see the sense of reinterviewing people (I'm sure that will change if that is the plan because it would cost money!), and hope everyone does get to come to OFLGW or indeed kept on at WWLHR or
EFLHR. It makes no difference to me, however crew at EFLHR may disagree when they see their name languishing on the transfer list to WWLHR for another year or two. (This is where you unions and their membership get involved).

Time will tell I guess.

NBN

Transfers work on seniority of joining EF/OFLGW, and where you get placed on your course (i.e. how well you do compared to the other delegates). The new transfer agreement to under discussion at the moment but nothing is finalised.

As for bring trained on the 777. Nothing is clear yet. However to stay in check for an aircraft you have been trained on you have to fly on it at least once every 3 months.

Now...Onefleet happens in October. So training could start in theory from July onwards. I'm sure it will all become clear, but I'm in the training school at the moment, and there is still no word.

I promise to keep everyone informed if things change

Red face MIDFLEET CABIN LGW!!

could some one please help, I live in the Middlesex area which is proper near to LHR but joining the LGW fleet july.. Please tell me or private message me on how much roughly I will take home, if its not well paid I will have to consider not taking as I need to think of money being spent on petrol which will build up and if some people are saying I may not be trained straight away on 777 (which wanted to make on longhaul routes) so I will be Euro Fleet for ages...

I need to also make money and Im sure LGW is fabulous and great fun but please give me some idea as im so lost now

thanks

Crew date of joining, your date of joining elsewhere will mean very little while you are flying apart from for staff travel. As has been said before you wont be transferring to LHR for a long time. If you really want to be at LHR why not wait for a course to come up there, its gonna be a lot quicker.

as for the second question, the first course to be 777 trained is in July (so one of our trainers was telling me) but i'm not sure which one it is, so you might be on that one but then also perhaps not!

Angel heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

hey there

Shame the moneys not the same at LGW onefleet as BA LHR same airline different pay not too fair is it... at the end of the day people wanna earn as much as they can so thats why they wanna transfer!!!!

Im sure if we at LGW got the same deal as LHR no-one would wanna transfer over would they and LGW has nicer routes so more would wanna transfer from LHR to LGW..

Also heard from the grapevine alot of EF LHR wanna come to LGW now its becoming the 'onefleet' so transfers may move faster BOTH WAYS!!!

Hi Eman
Well done for being invited for an assessment. I know everyone says it, but try to just relax!!!! If you've prepared yourself for all the possible questions then you should be ok.

I had mine a few weeks ago and got an offer of employment 4 days later.

A few tips. On the group assessment, they will probably only be about 4 other people with you. By this time you would have already got to know them while you are in the waiting area. Try to get there a good 40 mins before so you can strike up some rapport witht he others. All my group were fantastic people.
Whatever your group assisgnment is DON'T PANIC!! Even if you feel you haven't got a lot to contribute, just make sure your voice is heard, be part of the team and don't lead. Just make the odd suggestion and acknowledge the other's comments. It really isn't all that bad you know. BE yourself...unless you're gobby!! LOL Only joking.

As for the 2:1 interview again be yourself, check your body language when you are sitting opposite them. Keep hands relaxed on your lap and lean a little forward when answering , keeping eye contact.
If you are stucjk for an answer just ask if you can come back to it. If you really can't answer something, then be honest and say so, don't waffle and go astray of the question. I couldn't answer one question and told them.

Important. Try to remember all the names of the people from your group assessment and also something about them i.e. what they do or where they live.

Lastly, have different examples of answers to your application questions. Examples of difficult times, team work, someone you didn't get on with at work and how you coped with it, why you want the job, why BA, and what you can offer. Take your time with your answers, don't rush, take a few moments and construct your answers in your head before you speak.
The 2 who interviewd me were lovely and very friendly. Don't forget, they want you to do well, there not there to intimidate you.

I hope this helps and I hope you are successful. I'm sure you will. Just give it your best.

How about you, have you had your medical etc? Do you have a start date yet? are you going to LGW?

No problem, we all need a few tips, I know that I certainly did.

Haven't heard anything yet since I got the e-mail saying I had been accepted. I thought I would have gotten the verbal offer by now. If I get through the medical (do we actually have a medical?) I will be based at LGW.

You'll have to let us know how it goes!
good luck!

Still Waiting

Hi

I also had my interview a couple of weeks ago and I got an email to say that I've been accepted and that someone would call me soon to give me a verbal offer but I'm still waiting.

Does anyone know if this is the normal waiting time or have they missed me out

Probably me just being impatient.

By the way Eman, good luck and I can second what Gregg77 says. Just think back over your work experience and remember every difficult scenario and difficult person you were faced with and how you dealt with them.

Best of Luck

Thumbs up

Greg77 there's no "medical" in BA. However they will send you a LOOOONG form to complete, where they ask you if you've ever suffered from various health problems (including back pain, anxiety etc)

Be honest with them, if you've ever had a surgical operation, for example, do not worry about that. I had to declare my operation (something to do with my liver) and nothing happened, I was happily flying before joining BA and still am! However they might ask you to undertake a medical visit to investigate further if they have any doubts.
Rest assured that there are thousands of CC in BA and other airlines who have had appendicitis, tonsils removed, broken legs etc, I even know two people who have had a heart-attack, fully recovered and now are flying without any problem!!!!

Good luck

Hi guys, thanks again for your comments and your good luck wishes

flybywire: am I correct in thinking that this LOOONG form needs to also be signed by your GP? I need to change my GP, he is old and abrupt, he either does not listen to you or can't hear properly!

Thanks for your input

diego, all,

First of all congratulations to all that have got new jobs. You'll have a great time at LGW and the new BEACH FLEET:

to save you trawling through pages of replies, all LGW training is based around LGW at Hangar 6. For training away from this location you are transported around by bus from LGW to where you need to go.

I suggest living near LGW, especially if you need to use public transport.
