I agree with WLITS...

Apologies in advance for the attitude of some of the uniform stores staff........some days they are ok, some days a bit less ok...and some days you'll see how slowly it all works in there....just bring lots of patience with you!!!

Also, if you feel that your trousers are too short for you, INSIST that they order a longer size for you....if you only wear something once they won't exchange it for you anymore....One of them wanted to give me a size bigger just because they wanted to "finish it" with me......BUT I didn't want to look like a clown so I really insisted, and after months I got the right size for me.

We have them and we keep them the way they are....I am just thankful that we still have a uniform store at LGW, I am scared that they will take that away from us one day!!!

EFLGW = Eurofleet London Gatwick.

EOG was an old name for EFLGW before it merged with Cityflyer.

EGLGW was certainly a misspelling, do not worry!!

From now on BA will recruit for "Gatwick Fleet". EFLGW will merge with the WorldWide operations and will become "Gatwick Fleet", flying a mix of short and long haul on the 737-300/400/500 and 777-200.

I am almost certain that the positions offered for Gatwick Fleet are permanent. However, to be sure, just read carefully the application introduction on www.britishairwaysjobs.com
That will give you an insight on terms and conditionsm, and will surely mention if it is temporary or permanent.

Angel MIDFLEET CABIN CREW LGW

Hi there

I am joining CC LGW as Midfleet cabin crew in July (beginning).. and currently work on the ground at LHR so im transferring over to LGW im not moving there and so therefore will be commuting for training, however sum is at Cranebank S.E.P and AVMED... Now i always wanted EF LHR purely cos its nearer n convenient but i thought how bad can going to the caribbean be and going to holidays places in Europe too...they call LGW CREW...BEACH FLEET... I cant wait and heard the unions at LGW EF are currently fighting so we will get the same money as LHR crew get expenses wise as LGW get hourly rates unlike LHR crew who get paid for the whole trip...

Also with terminal 5 being open march 2008 for business rumour has it, BA wants to move LGW flights there.. how cool....

Cant wait see you all in the training in July!!!!

Ps) The uniform store is rude at LHR too so im not surprised their rude at LGW,try taking back some ripped uniform then they are major rude...btw the uniform is VERY VERY BAD QUALITY and uncomfortable too... .

yeah...not the best quality unfortunately....

But I find the trousers extremely comfortable though!!!
And the shirts...maybe not the best to pack but if you hang them after washing you don't need to iron them!!

Also the ladies' scarf......doesn't look nice if used scout's style but without securing the silver ring up high as it should be!!!

Angel BA UNIFORM

YEAH ABOUT THE UNIFORM, I WEAR IT LIKE THE GIRL GUIDE STYLE PURELY B COS THE AROUND THE KNECK IS SO ANNOYING.. I FIND ITS MORE COMFORTABLE THE GIRL GUIDE STYLE... I WEAR THE TROUSERS BUT THE TROUSERS GOT A MASSIVE HOLE I TOOK THEM BACK TO UNIFORM STORES AT LHR AND THEY DIDNT HAVE MY SIZE (THEY DONT HAVE ANYTHING THERE) AND HAD TO ARGUE TO GET A NEW PAIR..

THE SHIRTS WELL INSIDE THE COLLAR THEY ARE RED I FOUND THAT THEY GO YELLOWEEE AFTER A WHILE SO I SOAKED THEM OVERNIGHT IN VANISH AND THE RED BIT WENT ORANGE LOL... UNIFORM STORES WOULD NOT REPLACE THEM SAYING I HAD TO PAY £7.50 FOR A SHIRT I SAID NO WAY....

WHEN I WASH MY SHIRTS I HANG THEM STR8 ON A HANGAR TO DRY AND GET STRAUGHTENING IRONS TO IRON THE COLLAR..

ALSO ALOT OF US HAVE NOTICED THE SKIRTS ARE SEE THROUGH...VERY VERY BAD QUALITY...

YM - You may be offered " Temp LHR" but you almost certainly will get offered "Perm LGW", if both are available you will be offered both.

Congrats NBN

To clarify a few rumours you seem to have heard.

EFLHR and the LGW Fleet will be paid in totally different ways. LHR fleets get paid via the "allowance system". This means they get paid for breakfast/lunch/dinner depending on where they are in the world they are(and of course how long they are there) and what the exchange rate is to the pound in that country.

At LGW fleet we will be paid by the hour. This means you will get an hourly rate all the time you are at work on top of your basic.

BA want everyone to be on the hourly rate. Putting LGW crew on the allowance system is a step backwards and will cost them money.

So this will not happen.

As for open skies....

Open skies means for BA at LGW that they will be able to move Houston, Dallas, and Atlanta to LHR. They cannot at the moment because of an agreement called Bermuda II.

If open skies does happen BA have made no secret that they will move these three routes to LHR. Now as I'm sure your aware LHR has no more slots available, also when T5 opens in 2008 it will also be full. In fact BA is already too big for T5 and will be operating it's Australian and Spanish routes from T3.

This means if these 3 routes do go to LHR, then something has to come back to LGW. Probably routes that are less business sensive and more for the leisure market (Mauritius for example).

BA does not want to pull out of LGW and retreat to T5 because this would mean Easyjet taking over all the slots it can get it's hands on and so affecting the Shorthaul Market at LHR. Basically it's all about protecting "fortress LHR" which is without a doubt our number one asset.

So....in short. BA at LGW will be staying (as long as we break even). Cabin crew at LGW will not be paid in the same way as LHR Cabin Crew (but will still earn a fair wage that is still bloody good compared to other UK based airlines, with good T&C's to go with it.

As for transfer to LHR from LGW. After my chat with my union rep, he assured me it would all be sorted by October, and the system would be clear by then.

However my advice to you would be...Have in your mind that you will be at LGW for about 4-5 years (there are many wanting to go to LHR). If you go sooner, you've had a result. Without knowing what the transfer agreement will look like however, I can't say for sure when transfer would happen.

Hope this explains everything. Good luck and welcome on board.

hi why are they saying at fit for five that they hope to move from gatwick to LHR when all the terminals in terminal 5 open remember that terminal 5 is the size of 5foot ball pitches and they are goin 2 have terminal B and C too along with Terminal 3.. I am LHR ground staff and even our unions have said it will take years and years but it will happen!!

Hey NBN. I understand your confusion as what I'm saying and what you've been told seem to very different.

However...if that is what you are being told is BA wish to move the whole opperation to LHR...then as far as I am aware, it is wrong.

I've been involved with delivering OOF since last October and have seen every member of the board on a daily basis answer questions on every aspect of our business, both at LHR and LGW.

At no time has WW or Martin George (or any of the others) said that they wish to move the whole BA operation from LGW to LHR. In fact they say exactly the opposite, and that LGW is the only thing keeping the lo-cost wolves from LHR's door and they are fully committed to keeping BA at LGW. Closing BA at LGW will only damage BA in the long run.

There is the desire to move some LH routes to LHR, yes.

However (here comes the problem) even with T5 opening in 2008 all it will give us is "more space" not "more slots" which is the SERIOUS problem at LHR (not to say lack of space is not serious but more slots means more flights, money, customers etc etc etc).

Now I know T5 is the same size as 5 football pitches, I can real off many interesting facts (did you know the machines that burrow out the tunnels underneath are burried when they are finished with?). I also know that the satellites will be opening and give us more stands. However that's all they will give us...stands. The satellites will erase the need for MT to bus customers and crew to the terminals or aircraft, making their journeys easier and our operation slicker, however they won't give us more SLOTS, just space to park aircraft and convienience.

Only an extra runway or a change in the runway operations/dusk departures/noise rules at LHR will allow more slot capacity.

Until that happens nothing can move to LHR without something being cut or moving back to LGW.

As I'm sure your also aware the 4th strand of the business plan is "Fit for Growth", we can't grow at LHR for the reasons stated above. So we have to grow somewhere else, or move less airport sensetive destinations to LGW so we can start new routes or increase frequency at LHR.

Things COULD all change. SHLGW does have to break even by Summer 2007 for BA to reinvest in new aircraft, otherwise it will slowly wither and die. Some people may have written us off already, but I assure you,at LGW we intend to turn things around and survive, and give the lo-co's a fight. Also if a third runway is approved for LHR that would give more slot capacity and so moving stuff to LHR would be game on.

Hope that's all clear. As I've said I've been delivering this information on OOF to litterally 1000's of BA staff over the past 6-7 months, and I assure you we have to ensure that it is all FACT. You may have been told peoples "thoughts" or "rumours", however being in this company already you'll know that there's a different rumour every day and not to believe anything until you see it in black and white or happening in front of your eyes.

Anything else can give false hope, or cause bad feeling when it doesn't materialise.

Sorry to be a party pooper. But I believe it's important that anyone reading this (including yourself) is under no illusions and has all the FACTS, so they can make decisions that might affect their happiness and their lives.

Please feel free to PM me or post any more questions.

NBN.

You keep on mentioning that LGW flights will be moved to LHR and there has been a much better reply than I could ever post given to you already. Do not think its a done deal by any stretch of the imagination, think about slots and the like its just not possible for BA to move all the LGW flights up the road. If in the distant future it happens then lets cross that bridge when it comes to it, but can you see it in the next 10 years? Don't think I can.

Especially when T5 is not quite big enough for the existing heathrow operation (so we are led to believe) .

How many rumours...it's amazing!!

Speculations are breeding like the bunnies on the perimeter road

I do not know what's going to happen to the WWLHR Temp CC and it's going to make little difference to me, however I know the CC Manager who suggested they would be trained on the 737 and relocated to LGWfleet, and apparently when this was proposed it was well received by the company and both unions.

BA can relocate ANYBODY to any fleet during the first two years of service, and as soon as the TEMP contracts expire, BA could offer the temp CC ANY contract they like or decide to terminate the employment.

It's just a fact, and it's clearly stated in the BA Contract of Employment.

temps!

guys i am one of those temps and i have to say i love it....no offence but we were told that well before the end of our contract we will be given the chance to put our names for transfer courses to
LGW onefleet so they INSISTED that we would not be unemployed and we would not be INTERVIEWED again!....i do not understand this attitude of some people who want to see us going completely...in the end of the day anyone would grab the opportunity if they they had the choice....! to be honest i love WW but ba is a fantastic airline and i will work for them wherever they send me! it was a fantastic achievement to get the job to start with.

naughtybutnice, there's a HUGE thread on EFLGW, why don't you have a look at it?
It can answer all the questions that you have just made....and maybe many more!!!

As for EFLHR crew putting you down......do not worry. Yes money isn't the same at the moment but hey with LH coming to us it'll be better. Plus we're a really nice and united bunch of people.
You'll love it, everybody will love it as long as they don't start moaning about LHR money, trips, transfer lists.....I personally cannot take any of that cr*p and I know that many people in my fleet feel the same! We welcome nice, friendly and happy people any time!!!

Just relax and you'll have fun!!!!!
