Dook,

Darn, you’re good at this. It is indeed.

You have control!

BSD.

dook 15th Oct 2019 16:14

Cheers.

I've had a lot of practice.

Going forward in time:

sycamore 15th Oct 2019 19:28

Think it`s the Hunting 126 research aircraft......

dook 15th Oct 2019 19:35

Evening sycamore.

Unfortunately it's not British.

Self loading bear 15th Oct 2019 21:54

Is it a Link trainer?
Probably a modified one as I cannot locate this specific layout.

India Four Two 15th Oct 2019 22:19

Looks like too many instruments for a Link trainer.

It looks American, possibly a jet.

dook 16th Oct 2019 08:39

Good morning all.

It's not a link trainer nor American.

It is, however, a jet.

sycamore 16th Oct 2019 09:41

Is it a research aircraft...?
VTOL...German..?

dook 16th Oct 2019 09:52

Not really a research aircraft, but was intended to be a fast bomber. The prototype only flew once before the end WW2.

Not VTOL.

Not German but it's worth pursuing that further......

JENKINS 16th Oct 2019 13:50

'Further' being a long way to Japan, the Nakajima Kikka perhaps?

sycamore 16th Oct 2019 13:54

AHH,So ,Glasshopper.....Nakajima J9N Kikka.....Glosser Meteor looksalike....Arigato gasimos....OH ...IF collect....

AHHH,muss commit halla-killi, Jenkins-san..!!!

dook 16th Oct 2019 14:01

Oh dear sycamore.

JENKINS got there just four minutes before you with the Nakajima Kikka.

J has the thread.

JENKINS 16th Oct 2019 14:07

Thanks to Dook and to Sycamore. Not one in the pages of a Sycamore logbook? I fear I am really hopeless with cockpits, I do have another device available which I will inspect, so for now Open House I fear.

Me262, what a looker. Did the Israelis really fly the Czech derivative?

dook 16th Oct 2019 14:28

No. They expressed interest in it but the deal to buy it was never finalised.

dook 16th Oct 2019 14:31

OK sycamore - hit it !

sycamore 16th Oct 2019 18:33

Try this then....

dook 16th Oct 2019 18:47

Big donk taildragger with collimating gunsight and one-piece front canopy.

Suspect restored WW2 fighter with big radial, probably American.

edit: cockpit looks fairly close to the engine and canopy possibly bubble type.

Not so easy as it looks.

Ryan Fireball ?

sycamore 16th Oct 2019 19:13

Not a Fireball; post war; the original MRCA...

dook 16th Oct 2019 19:19

Ah MRCA - Must Refurbish Canberra Again.

Not many post-war radial-engine machines of that type. Looking at American.

dook 16th Oct 2019 19:40

Ah - prolly Skyraider.

sycamore 16th Oct 2019 20:07

Some 35 variants,from trainer to tanker,single to 4 seater,could even carry the `sunshine bucket`,and even lift it`s own weight in `goodies..
The `Flying Dumptruck`.... almost as heavy as a DC-3...
ok,check tailwheel LOCKED,Throttle 58""check torque, salute the `shooter`,head back...away you go,gearup.......

dook 16th Oct 2019 20:39

You omitted "select reheat".

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....f47f84412e.jpg

sycamore 16th Oct 2019 20:49

Off a `cat` shot ,the `reheat` would be felt in your trousers.....
Could be a Fournier ,with a `pea in a tube VSI`.... OH if......off to TV....

dook 16th Oct 2019 20:54

I work from a laptop whilst sitting facing the TV.

The challenge is not French.

India Four Two 16th Oct 2019 23:36

The shape of the nose is very reminiscent of an SGS 1-26.

dook 17th Oct 2019 09:10

This lightweight is powered.

dook 17th Oct 2019 10:45

The aeroplane is amateur designed.

It may be purchased as plans only, in kit form, or ready to fly.

Single seat, single engine, hinged canopy. Tailwheel or tricycle.

That all fits the Czech Spacek SD1 Minisport

dook 17th Oct 2019 14:45

What do you have for us next...….

SincoTC 17th Oct 2019 14:55

Thanks dook! Try this one

dook 17th Oct 2019 15:05

One instrument is labelled "variometer" which is Eurospeak for what we and the Americans refer to as a VSI.

Variometers in this country are usually reserved for sailplanes but this has an rpm gauge.

I thus think this is European, but might be wrong.

Might it be a motor glider ?

SincoTC 17th Oct 2019 15:09

Correct, it is European.

dook 17th Oct 2019 15:12

And a motor glider I hope.....

SincoTC 17th Oct 2019 15:23

I didn't see that in the post when I answered it, I guess your edit must have crossed! However, sorry it isn't a motor glider :)

dook 17th Oct 2019 15:33

That sketch is not in any Jean-Luc Beghin portfolio worse luck.

French open cockpit perchance ?

SincoTC 17th Oct 2019 15:40

It is French and has an open cockpit.

dook 17th Oct 2019 15:54

Now the difficult part...……….

SincoTC 17th Oct 2019 16:14

Please note that my challenge had an open cockpit, but over the years and many airframes constructed based on this, quite a few had closed cockpits!

Any more clues required?

dook 17th Oct 2019 16:16

Presume civil.

Circa 1950 ?
