Should go to Specs.......! touche...
|
American mono plane not military and of somewhat later date. I think the altitude gauge is quite overrated. |
Is it in a museum ?
Early Northrop ? |
Ford Flivver.
|
Exaccery. Ford Flivver dook in the cockpit |
|
American instruments. A lot of extra knobs and dials where legs should go! An American trainer, equipped for test flying? |
Not much more as a chipmunk but slightly newer Ab-initio military trainer in tandem? is that a sliding fuel tray or a like? |
American yes.
Trainer no. |
Can`t make up my mind about this; looks in part like a `40s fighter/trainer,factory built, but the main panel looks like a `homebuilt` affair, probably American...also there is a significant mark on the ASI at 140 kts,but no other for Vmax,,and if it is single pointer, still seems limiting. There is a mark at 36" on the boost, which suggests it is powered in 450-600 hp range (+3lbs in old money)... So ,tandem/single,biplane or mono.....?
|
Single, monoplane, 600hp.
|
GeeBee or Hughes H-1...?
|
Sorry - neither.
|
Is it unique,ie type of work, record, one off only, in a museum,,..?
|
Not unique or a one-off.
A total of 151 were built but only two survive and three reproductions are on exhibit. A fighter...... |
There is one displayed at the National Museum of the United States Air Force.
|
Hi dook,
just got in and got a few hours to kill, I thought this would have been nabbed by now with those clues! Gotta be a Boeing P-26 Peashooter innit? |
I wondered when you would pitch up.
I thought there were enough clues as well - I was about to add the engine. Boeing Peashooter innit. All yours. |
Thanks dook, been pretty busy, so is prepared in a hurry and prolly won't last long :)

….and into Photoshop it goes.
I see what looks like Cyrillic on the two labels, no letters on the T&S indicator, and a strange instrument to the right of it. Buttons on the stick. This wouldn't be a Russian fighter would it ? |
Well, it fought for the Russians, but it isn't classified as a fighter!
|
The buttons on the stick must be for something.
A mud-mover 'praps. Biplane or mono ? |

Maybe the Ilyushin Il-2.
|
Sorry, not an Ilyushin, even an optical one ! :O
|

So far, everything is coming up as either a fighter or a trainer.
|
Err......no they aren't.
How about the UT-1 ? |

How about the UT-1 ? Airwar, my image source, classifies it as a Light attack aircraft. Control is yours!! :ok: |
Perhaps someone with less time than me would like to post.

something a bit different |
Good job you posted - I was about to.
|
Into Photoshop yet again.
Placards/notices suggest cropsrayer. Above the engine operation panel is a sentence in Spanish/Italian which ends in the word "agricola" |
"crop sprayer cockpit" into Google = first line 4th right = AT-402B Air Tractor. :)
|
Right ,go and get down in the weeds, and do some real lo-flying........
|
|
|
Morning dook,
Looking at the rocket selector panel and general layout, ASI etc, I'm thinking early COIN, 1950's piston powered ? |
