Several ways of spelling it but yes - that's the place - rather a nice corner of the island - beaches, mountains........

My apologies to Sultan for putting him on the wrong track.
Some how it looks that Botswana is one of the few African countries withe the blue red no parking signs.
(others being mainly white with red circle)

“Aeroport de” put me on the former French colonies of which there is only one on the East side of Africa.

Looks like a nice place indeed.

Now this mishap.

Looks like an Avro 504,flown by `Hoskins`,late on the round-out...again.....
Netheravon..?

Self loading bear 25th Oct 2020 21:23

AVRO 504 all right
But not Hoskins
or at least not on his home field.

You are now way further off than Netheravon

Asturias56 26th Oct 2020 15:20

Well then - probably N France

tho it going to be hard to guess which muddy field without a leetle more info or another picture........ ;)

Self loading bear 27th Oct 2020 06:14

Not N France but you are closest so far.

A Bristol Frightener - but not in the UK nor a long way away from the UK - so not Argentina, Canada or New Zealand & not N France

I suspect its Belgium - somewhere like Brussels-Charleroi Airport (Gosselies)...................

Self loading bear 27th Oct 2020 12:13

Gosselies It is.

I had a small vacation booked for April flying from there but it was not to be....
Still waiting for my refund.
The Bristol was owned by Fairey aviation.

Asturias has the lead

Asturias56 28th Oct 2020 07:02

Sorry about the delay - well that was an inspired challenge. I looked at European Freighter operators and noticed in an after-note that Avions Fairey operated one - it was so left field I assumed that's the one - there are some corkscrew minds on here!

I think we may have had Gosselies a couple of years back but as the modern airport.

Open house!

sycamore 28th Oct 2020 07:38

And a Hunter being swallowed by a mini-guppy...or maybe regurgitated....

JENKINS 28th Oct 2020 17:01

Plenty of time on 'Fairey Legs' in my BN2 days across the Earth. Made no difference, still smashed in.

This next is not in my BN2 palmares, though it looks as if it should have been. Much prop blending, I imagine. Apparently extant in a much changed form.

A wild guess at Salalah.

JENKINS 29th Oct 2020 10:38

Good morning, and I regret not Salalah. North at top of photo, A320 recently landed after long dog-leg from departure field.

Manama?
Now Bahrein international

teusje 29th Oct 2020 19:49

Jeddah? Now King Abdul Aziz International.

JENKINS 29th Oct 2020 20:21

Neither Muharraq nor Jeddah I fear. Not close, but general region OK.
