JENKS,were you in the `Peloton`,pedalling hard on your `Zwift` cycle....no time to look at the countryside...?

JENKINS 9th Sep 2020 09:47

That is exactly where I was, though this field was a couple of miles off the route. Prominent glider field.

My summer holiday is following gorge-porn and chateaux-porn around France.

chevvron 9th Sep 2020 11:27

Ah I did catch a glympse of of a gliding field whilst watching 'Le Tour' on telly but I didn't get the name; somewhere near Nice?

JENKINS 9th Sep 2020 12:06

Much closer than the Tour is now. East of the Rhone; I have flown into a relatively close jump field, but not to this place.

chevvron 10th Sep 2020 08:16

I now know where it is but in all honesty I can't name or claim it as I was told by a lellow thread contributor.
Glad to note others are watching the 'tour;' I thought my wife and I were the only ones even though we're not cyclists ourselves.

Longest Tour day today......
Aerodrome de Serres / la Batier-Montaleon..44.27N 005.43E.
la maison est `ouverte`....

JENKINS 10th Sep 2020 13:43

Yes, that's it. Looked impressive. I have been to Gap, but no closer.

Open House declared.

The smaller is a decoy
The larger is still existing.

Flap40 13th Sep 2020 16:20

Is it Haamstede?

It definitely is Haamstede.
Not much changed actually.

Thanks. Open house.

nvubu 18th Sep 2020 18:03

All a bit quiet here, so where might this be?

Burtonwood? Unconvinced by hangar, but at least it is a start.

nvubu 18th Sep 2020 21:47

Yes is is a start, but not the correct one. It is still an active airfield.

India Four Two 19th Sep 2020 05:03

Judging by the hangar design, I'm guessing somewhere in the US.

nvubu 19th Sep 2020 07:01

That guess would be wrong, nowhere near the US

sycamore 19th Sep 2020 18:52

Morocco,Rabat ,or Marrakech

nvubu 19th Sep 2020 19:11

None of those, but you are on the correct continent.

Here is the control tower.
