Lapangan Terbang Sultan Ismail Petra, Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Maleisia
is 30 km almost north of Pasir Mas.
That is however not a military base.
But used to be 8 brigade Army camp?

mgahan 9th Aug 2020 23:05

Good first step - military base. Still is but also has other aviation uses these days. .Look to the west coast for a military aviation connection and then go south for the name connection.

Alor Star or Butterworth....?

mgahan 10th Aug 2020 19:50

Butterworth is the military aviation connection, now for the name... look south and a little east let's call it the "new south".

Possibly 3..Sitiawan...private.;Taiping,where that `Aerocar crashed a few years ago...unlikley..which leaves Ipoh....OH if correct

The name and aircraft connection are in Malaysia but the airport is not. You may need a Bahasa Melayu/English dictionary.

Lapangan Terbang Sultan Ismail Petra is to Kota Bharu as wwwwwwwwwww is to nnnnnnnnn.

Lapangan Terbang AirPort
Kota Baru New city
airport W+10 characters
City N+8 characters
RAAF Williamstown in Newcastle Australia
fits the bill.

Good vacation work SLB, Billsville it is. Some of those old buildings are still there but plenty of development in recent years.

Over to you.

Thanks MJG,
If you would have stated more clearly that the name of Lapangan contained the full textual clue,
it would have been more straightforward.
Eventually found by your reference of “new south” (wales)

Now this
One will have to determine the aircraft first.

The designer/pilot took notes and inspiration from several aircraft.
What I can find on Deperdussin is that his first creations where produced just after the aircraft shown.
We are looking for a country first achievement.

The last photo looks like the Harry Ferguson memorial in N.I., but it's obviously not the monoplane in the earlier photo...?

You are right about the differences between the planes on the photo and the memorial.
However they both relate to the same occasion: the first flight in Ireland by Harry Ferguson.

Location Hillsburough Park outside Belfast.
The memorial is on the crossing at Hillsburough Park of the A1.

Max Tow you have the con.

Hillsburough Park did not become an established Aerodrome.
But when an airplane has landed and took off from a location it can be a challenge here.
Nvubu also Posted some ww2 glider landing areas as a challenge here.

OH called.
