Duckbutt 10th Aug 2012 21:16

Exactly correct CGB. You have the ball.

Cows getting bigger 11th Aug 2012 06:44

Open house, I'm afraid.

evansb 11th Aug 2012 15:52

Camouflaged aerodrome ?

BEagle 11th Aug 2012 16:42

Could be - I don't know.....

evansb 11th Aug 2012 18:39

RAF Feltwell, Norfolk, England ?

BEagle 11th Aug 2012 18:57

Neither Feltwell:

nor England.

chevvron 11th Aug 2012 22:43

Shape of the hangars and their layout would indicate not UK, but possibly Ireland? Baldonnel maybe?

BEagle 12th Aug 2012 06:34

Neither Baldonnel, nor Ireland, to be sure, to be sure......

Nor west of Feltwell.....

MReyn24050 12th Aug 2012 11:19

I think it is somewhere in Germany.

BEagle 12th Aug 2012 14:33

Do you? That's interesting.......:oh:

MReyn24050 12th Aug 2012 14:57

Flughafen Oldenburg perhaps which was later to become RAF Oldenburg.

BEagle 12th Aug 2012 15:06

Sie haben recht! Well done!

Sadly no longer active, but the hangars are still there (as is the runway):

One of the few aerodromes, once theirs, then ours, then theirs again, from which former enemies ended up flying the same aeroplane type - the excellent F-86 Sabre.

You have control!

MReyn24050 12th Aug 2012 15:14

Vielen Dank BEagle. Sehr interessiert.

Here is the next one. It has been done before but not from this angle.

You have control.

sabredog 13th Aug 2012 06:58

Could we have the actual photo please?

aviate1138 16th Aug 2012 09:45

aerobelly 16th Aug 2012 09:57

Sometimes flickr works with a deep-link, sometimes it doesn't.

Try this higher level version:

chevvron 16th Aug 2012 10:12

It might be Wanstead Flats.

aerobelly 16th Aug 2012 10:25

Not Wormwood Scrubs or Wanstead Flats. Different country.

aviate1138 16th Aug 2012 11:40

How about Issy-les-Moulineaux as a possibility?

aerobelly 16th Aug 2012 12:01

Aviate1138 has it.

The photo's caption in "Men, women and 10,000 kites" reads:

"Issy-les-Moulineaux 7 September 1908, Delagrange beat all world records and his own of the previous day in the Voisin, covering the course seventeen times in 31 minutes at an altitude of 4 to 5 metres (13 to 16 feet)."

From my many flights into Stansted in the back of a Ryanair 737, I believe that this is Great Sampford
