As far as Poland ?
Poland is too far north.
Think it may be Rumania,or Hungary...
Romania too far east, Hungary still too far north.
How about Yugoslavia.
Well that's the country narrowed down :ok:
I have a list of 130 WW2 airfields there.
I may be away for some time !!! |
How are you getting on ?
Slowly !
It seems that there is no evidence of Luftwaffe activity at many Yugoslav airfields. Was this one used by the Luftwaffe ? |
Was being bombed by the Allies, so I guess so :)
But may have not been German.
Air Force of the Independent State of Croatia (Zrakoplovstvo Nezavisne Države Hrvatske, ZNDH Nothing coming up though. Food for thought: A great deal of misleading information is published about Allied air raids. |
The images were taken by B17s of the 15th AAF.
When I search for the name of the airfield, the results always show the modern field not this one. Also, not Croatia. |
It does have an ICAO code. That should narrow it down somewhat.
Maribor perhaps?
Mostar Jasenica?
It isn't in Slovenia.
Reminders:
ADDED: My reply crossed with Davidsoffice. Bingo, Mostar Jasenica it is. Well done, you have control. |
So many clues with country and ICAO code, two airfields, geography with rising ground and two rivers.
Open house I'm afraid. |
