Now get back to where you belong......

Amchitka is correct. :ok: Amchitka consisted of three separate airstrips. The one pictured is the most northerly and the smallest, The photo was taken looking ENE toward Constantine Harbour.

Fascinating looking at the airfields now on Amchitka, how well preserved the layout is underneath the snow.

To warmer climes for the next challenge.

JENKINS, I was going to suggest something a bit smaller - a glider?

If, by "Frightener" you mean the B170, it seems to me that the wings are a bit too close to the ground. Apologies if you are referring to something else.

Upon closer inspection, I see a round engine and a three-bladed prop, so I’ll take back my glider and substitute a Model 10 Electra?

Somewhere in the US?

nvubu 15th Feb 2018 06:55

Not in the US. One year later, the tower had grown an extra floor

Ecuador maybe ?

nvubu 15th Feb 2018 12:01

Right continent, wrong country.

dook 15th Feb 2018 13:28

Peru was friendly with the US in WW2.

evansb 15th Feb 2018 15:28

U.S. NAS Amapa, Brazil ?

nvubu 15th Feb 2018 16:17

Ahha Jenkins - I did have some shots of Parnamiri, but have kept them for another time.

Not in Brazil or Peru.

It may be a trick of the light, but I think that there is a big clue as to the country in the last image I posted.

JW411 15th Feb 2018 16:52

Is the aircraft in the "hangar" perchance a B-18?
