Area 51 (it's not really there)

Not Idaho or Colorado.
Just behind the mountain to the North there's a well known ski and casino resort.

I looked south of Reno and Carson City, found Indian Creek Reservoir, which matched the lake, which lead me to Alpine County Airport, KM45. Which I have just noticed is across the state line, in California.

OH if correct.

Alpine County it is. Nice little hiking and camping spot, occasionally used by fire fighters.

Great challenge.

We were told by our elderly helicopter pilot that the airfield had been used by the Navy for training because it was similar to a carrier deck, being on the edge of the escarpment, but I can't find anything about that on the web so I don't know how true that is.

I'll have to throw it open for now as I don't haven anything to hand.
