It isn't Balderton, or anywhere else in the UK.

nvubu 23rd Jun 2017 22:18

I'll leave this overnight.

very nice old fortification just above the bombs!!

nvubu 24th Jun 2017 08:28

Fort is still there - covered in trees though., and all the fields have been built on.

This angle might make it easier

This is taking a bit longer than I thought it would.

I'll dig out some different images tomorrow if it is still an unknown.

Heathrow Harry 25th Jun 2017 07:05

Fortresses at lower level....... N france? Belgium - maybe Lille??

nvubu 25th Jun 2017 08:06

France - if you go to Google Maps and type in Northern France, the aerodrome is not in the area shaded.

Here is a plan of the aerodrome from 1930 - I don't think the road has the same name now as then - it is still an airfield

Bit fuzzy, but here is an image from 1930 (from the same book as the plan above)

G-ARZG 25th Jun 2017 08:31

Not our old friend Le Bourget is it ?

G-ARZG 25th Jun 2017 08:59

'Porte ouverte' if correct.

chevvron 25th Jun 2017 09:51

Or even 'Le Bouquet' as we used to say at LATCC (but pronounced different)

nvubu 25th Jun 2017 10:53

Yes, Le Bourget it is. Your post the other day made me think that I had some historical images of the aerodrome.

Open house it is.

G-ARZG 25th Jun 2017 11:12

Thankfully those B-17's left a lot standing, love those giant 30's hangars just oozing with history...

nvubu 25th Jun 2017 11:51

Only just though

Europe!!!

nvubu 28th Jun 2017 17:17

Italy or Spain?

I was going to guess South America.

jensdad 28th Jun 2017 17:18

Vegetation looks a bit dry. Some canny mountains in the distance to the West. Runway orientation somewhere between 200 and 299 degrees. I'm going to kick things off with a massive leap in the dark and say Sofia.
