Another in the series "I'm surprised it hasn't been done before"

R.T.A.F.B. Nakhon Phanom,Thailand. USAF Douglas A-26K Invader 609th Special Operations Squadron .
Splendid photograph,Simon.

Terrence,

The early bird catches the worm! An A-26K and PSP. It couldn't be anywhere else but NKP.

Given the reputation of the Air Commandos for eccentric uniforms, the ground crewman is very smartly turned out.

You have control.

PS It looks like sandbag chocks with no ropes attached. Great care required during chocks-away!

sabredog 11th Jun 2012 09:34

Thank you,Simon.
The next is from a somewhat earlier period and conflict.

Occupied France in WW2?

MReyn24050 12th Jun 2012 09:40

I would go for France also but WWI?

sabredog 12th Jun 2012 11:19

France, WW1 is correct,Gentlemen. Not a "French" aerodrome originally, and I believe the photograph was taken in 1918.

Lordflasheart 12th Jun 2012 16:52

Saint-Inglevert RFC/RAF, Pas-de-Calais (France) ?
The old site, not the current aerodrome.

sabredog 12th Jun 2012 21:10

I am afraid not,LFH, it is not St.Inglevert.
This aerodrome was built on occupied French soil for the Imperial German Flying Corps, and Manfred Von Richthofen was stationed there at the start of his flying career. The aerodrome was under new management when the photograph was taken!

Airclues 13th Jun 2012 08:03

Bertincourt?

OH if correct

Dave

sabredog 13th Jun 2012 09:26

Sorry,Airclues. Not Betincourt.
The photograph is from the Web, and was not scanned from a publication.

descol 13th Jun 2012 10:21
