I took this picture in 1976 - the note on my silde says Hoskins - I have gone on google earth and have to admit that it may not be Hoskins - I have also checked out my old slides of Rabaul and it may well be it - so, apologies if I have made an error - If either of you can confirm it is Rabaul - then Chimbu has control

The skillful cropout of 'the Beehives' (volcanic plugs rising out of the harbour) was a stumper.
Anyone lucky enough to live in Rabaul 'taim B4' would agree about the 'jewel of the Pacific' tag.

Well done Des, Port Moresby Intl, Jacksons Strip, 7 mile. Bombed almost daily by the Japanese in '42.

There is a ppruner named 'chimbu chuckles' at - PNG -Ples bilong tok tok - Dunnunda Godzone and the Pacific thread - wantok bilong u ?
Another shot of Jackson's below - I travelled out of this aiport many times in the 70s - if you are interested see 707 take off - posting at PNG ples bilong tok tok.

Oh dear.
It seems that this place we have had before. It is listed in Mel's list under a differant name though, hence the confusion.
If any body objects, I will delete and declare open house.
