Matamata, a lovely grass field in the North Island, home to the Piako Gliding Club and the aerodrome of The Shire - the Hobbiton location is a few miles to the southwest.

TCF, it's a Harvard Mk II. The wide angle lens I used has made the wing look more tapered than it really is.

While we are waiting

Two things I remember vividly from Lady Elliot, apart from the diving of course, are the overpowering smell of guano from the Noddies which nest in nearly every tree and the runway littered with dead Terns. Birdstrikes must be a regular occurrence for the Twin Otters.
