Right re: trees, etc., but it kept us off Page 2.
More seriously, that swath across the countryside might well indicate a substantial electric transmission line from the distance. The road might also lead to the generating station. But where? The valley has to be fairly flat or the water wouldn't be so wide / crooked.

Sorry wrong continent - try europe. Commercial flights recently stopped here.
And on a personal note, my sister who owns a big chunk of land at the top of the pic, is hoping to buy the airfield.

Well, last time I tried looking at the shadows and fauna I was correct, lets try again.
I would guess about 55 - 65 N, Northern Europe somewhere, Summertime. Germany at a push? Southern Sweden? Denmark maybe?
From the shadows I would guess the runway orientation to be perhaps 16/34?
Lets see.....

Hi Cap'n DBL, how are you doing? I've read that Iceland doesn't have any trees though I've only been around REK.
My guess would be Sweden though the hills in the background would suggest further north. My initial thoughts were somewhere like Sundsvall Harnosand but its a long time since I was there.

I am pretty sure c53204's sister would only be interested if you were a proficient skier.......I think there are ski slopes looking in the opposite direction.
Is it : Hemavan Tärnaby in Northern Sweden?

OK you're all getting too close ;-)
My sisters place is Askilje Camping (including a chunk of land which just about reaches the airfield. Camping, Chalets, motorhomes, etc. As long as you don't mind the odd bear or moose (really) roaming around you would love it.
Pics here MobileMe Gallery
She only moved there in March 2010 and then commercial flights ceased in June - the airfield is up for sale and she is keen to buy and keep it active.

OK folks...lets try this one......probably just as cold as the previous in February.
In the late '80's, one summer, I had an hour in a bright yellow Stearman here.....one of the most memorable flights of my life.

Mr Grubby has it.
Flying Cloud Airport in Eden Prairie, to the west of Minneapolis. There used to be a superb little museum here, now closed. The exhibits moved or were sold to become a Museum in Palm Springs, I believe.
