Looking back now...retracing steps...one11's challenge must have sent people scurrying to Fairchild?

Fairchild? I mean is, is he the 'successful' designer?

She call you back for dessert mate?

"Ken, get back here! Why you insist on spending so much time with that wretched computer is beyond me! Why, I'm starting to think you'd prefer to be married to that thing than me!...and another thing, what do you intend doing about those weeds?!..Ken? Ken? ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME!!??"

I'm here - just been sorting out my books - and seeing if I can find some new challenges! Now need to make sure they're all on the web

must have sent people scurrying to Fairchild?
me included, but the undercarriage was all wrong. Internet's been slow all day today, so there was no way I was going to spend hours going through Aerofiles.

Mate, I couldn't identify a cockpit or an aerodrome if my life depended on it. But I have a lot of cockpit photos (books/magazines..and I'm sure you do to) and just thought I could contribute.
I have no idea how you work out what an aircraft is from a set of dials! When the cockpit windows/frames have been in view it helps a bit, but even so how these guys work them out is beyond me! It was only your clue that made it easy.

Years ago I used to do all the nav chart updates for aircraft so I used to get to recognise some airport layouts. And if you have a few clues and know roughly where to look you can always use google earth to look at airfields.

Hmmm...what happened to the other guy?
Not sure who else was involved - probably went on to be President or something! Incidentally the person concerned died in the late 1990's.

Colditz starts in 3 mins, so you've got an hour to work on it whilst I watch TV

Want a clue?
Yes please. Cause that "better things" wasn't really a clue, was it?

She got you in a headlock, wrestling on the floor? Just don't let her get to the kitchen knife!! God I feel so helpless here! And it's all my fault, she must have seen the monitor?! Ken?! Ken? Anyone, what's the emergency number in the UK?!!

EDIT: Phew...you had me worried!

Mrs Ken watch too? Keep a close eye on her mate, I don't trust her.

Take care.

Cheers

Ok I'm back.....we were both watching it mate....and no guns/knives or even wrestling involved....other than on TV of course!

Right where are we.....one of the guys involved in the design....he did go on to better things aircraft wise, but no clue per se in "better things". All those famous aircraft were produced by the same company.

Closing down for the night now.

Good morning Ken.

It's not clear, but how many cylinders does that engine have?

Yes please. A proper one now, none of that "there was once a man who became successful" rubbish.......

Wasn't good this morning mate... Went to visit my son in hospital and I had to lie down on the bed next to him when the nurses weren't looking.

Despite advice from the colonies to the contrary I will tell you - its 5.

Evening Graeme

Mmm - well, once upon a time in a land far away there lived an aircraft designer who was to become famous, but before that he was involved in the design of a small trainer aircraft that was cancelled because they had no money to develop it!!

Good morning skytrain,

I think it's the Okay SK-1 and "Lee" Attwood was the designer!

Back to work now, but I'll keep ane eye open if it's correct.

Not the Mohawk Graeme, but......

Sinco jumps in and snatches it from your grasp, yes its the Okay SK-1. Well done Trevor

Over to you Sinco

See Graeme - those clues DID work for someone

And I even gave you the name of the manufacturer Graeme - see my post from last night.....
.Ok I'm back.....etc

"Lee" Attwood
....and if you don't know, those famous aircraft were: T-6/Harvard, B-25 Mitchell, P-51 Mustang, F-86 and the F-100, all of course from North American.
