Silhouette challenge
Possibly evidence that the designer, who had previously established a successful aviation business had, by this time, lost the plot, maybe due to pre-occupation with other plots.

HD, I too was thinking of General Aircraft...as you say there is some familiarity...but I cannot see any of their projects that match this particular design.
Going off on a different angle, would this be a Cunliffe Owen project. I cant find reference to it but I do recall reading something about their involvement in a heliplane project?

Juan de la Cierva had involvement in other plots, namely helping to get Franco into power in Spain. His company was eventually sold to Saunders-Roe. So could it be one of his?

Not unexpectedly, I reckon this one is about solving the clues rather than finding a reference to the 3- view. The plots mentioned were of the kind mentioned by Mechta , rather than the literary variety , but he would probably have approved of those of Francisco Franco.
That said he also was very active in journalism and made a film from his own script.
The project had a name, but I guess the designer name is now enough to win control.

Lets see if we can get this one sorted this year..........
This appears to have been his last design. ( WRONG - I' m having to do as much research as you guys to feed the clues)
The first was a flying boat
Then some single engine biplanes, mostly pushers
Finally, another pusher, almost as bizarre as the subject , but which was built in two versions, the first by his company and the second by its successor.
If that doesn't crack it I can probably find a silhouette of the latter to put up later tonight

Good Challenge one11; I feel like I've been trailing around in LM's moustracks for hours! Unfortunately, I've got to go and fix my brother's computer now, that's a job that will take up the rest of the year, so keep up the good work guys! Graeme's already there, but I wish you all a Happy New Year and a "Challenging" 2010

Although the former reference mentions various 1930's projects , it does not specifically mention the subject. This was called the Durotofin and dates from 1934. The novel feature was that the rotors , driven from a central engine, would tilt, in the manner of the Bell XV-3, XV-15 & V-22 Osprey. I only found one on-line reference and that was on a camera website, cameras being another field he had been active in.
The Compass in detail (cameraclassics)
Mechta, you have control to end the old year and/or start the new one ( UK time that is)
Cheers Doug
Evening to you, from the future, as I'm experiencing 2010. Seems very similar to 2009.
Hi Mechta! We've already had this one. I remember printing it from Jane's and colouring it black with a texta. That's Aussie technology at work!

Will this be the the last to be cracked in 2009 or the first of 2010?
Oh, the power! It's too great, the Tardis is experiencing time turbulence and I don't want to incur the wrath of the thread etiquette monitors, so see you in the future. It appears Mechta's light is out and probably already entering toward the time vortex...
See you all on the other side.
I'm back from the future!
Sorry, couldn't resist that.
Just thought I'd return to warn you that you'll wake up in the future with a thumping headache. I'm not sure why.
