2043 + 18 = 1443, or are we sticking to 24 hrs then?

I was at Gatwick when Virgin started...those were the days!

I had heard that Virgin had used their own crew for this ad.....including Captain Iamaright Pratt!!

I am very very sorry for holding up the forum.
Could not react earlier.
Thanks for the additional photos and explanations on the flying square.

Open House please (which I think is already in effect)

Nope. Glider?

A project which got to mock-up stage with a piston engine.

Interesting. A pusher mounted on top of the fuselage? Looks like it was designed for endurance and/or high altitude work? Just fishing really!

I tried magnifying the 'blackness' looking for brush strokes and any tell-tale signs of the original outline and so I had my head pressed against the monitor for a closer look when my wife caught me. She called me an idiot. I'm not an idiot, am I? Tell me you all do this? Right!?

It didn't help anyway. It looks an odd design for 1942? I tried filling in the gaps again and the tail reminded me of the Albatross so maybe a De Havilland design?

Would this be one of the variations of the Davis Manta aircraft?

Found this 2 view:

Don't worry Graeme, my wife has the same opinion (of me that is!). I do exactly the same.

Sadly I had wandered off on the wrong track on this one...couldn't see a prop/spinner at the front so assumed the engine was somewhere hidden in the blackness. Your modifications made me think again!

"I tried magnifying the 'blackness' looking for brush strokes and any tell-tale signs of the original outline..."

Not once it's been through Photoshop you won't.

Here's a photo of the one-off mock-up:

Designed by David R. Davis as a long range fighter, and appeared in 'Flight' in 1942. It's obvious why he called it the Manta.

Good shooting skytrain - the floor is all yours.

Thanks LM. Interesting machine. For all its streamlining the cockpit looks a little like it was added on as an afterthought!

My turn:

HD, no connection with Procaer, and not an Italian, or French, design.
