Happy New Year everyone!!
Pretty sure this picture shows De Lloyd Thompson in his Day Tractor Biplane racing against Barney Oldfield in 1915.
If I'm right may I declare open house

Welcome to 2010 John! Nicely spotted and congratulations on solving the first challenge of the new year.
Thanks mate, as there's no one about and it is the season of giving, here's the second challenge for two ten...although it's not much of a challenge, I just liked the photo when I saw it.
If I'm right may I declare open house

Happy New Year everyone! I am now back in the land of the living and looking forward to tonights Dr Who.
"Will you guys call it, in conversation,... "two thousand and ten"...or "two ten?""
For me, neither. It is 'twenty ten' and I am glad to see the back of all that 'two thousand and....stuff. I wonder if future historians, used to using 'twenty', will refer to years in the last decade as 'twenty-o-something, rathr than 'two thousan and' like we have. After all, that is how we say the years from the first decades of previous centuries, ........maybe I'm not completely sober yet

Thanks LM you are most welcome.
Some furthers stats. To date we have had a total of 759 challenges since the thread was started in June 2008 with only 18 duplications.
Noyade leads with some 86 wins to his credit followed closely by Skytrain10 with 81.
LM has been keeping the thread going by posting challenges to cover many of the "Open House" requests i.e. 82 challenges to date.

Well done to Graeme, and to LM for keeping things going.
If I my echo others and give my thanks to Mel for keeping the list of challenges up to date.
Just looking back I see irishair2001 has been on a few times before, so will hopefully be aware of forum procedures. Hoping for a challenge from you soon irishair.

Mel,
Excellent further stats. Thank you. However, I feel honour-bound to correct you:
"LM has been keeping the thread going by posting challenges to cover many of the "Open House" requests..."
That is simply because I am not as good as most of you and this is too often the only way I can get in! (and I keep a minimum of twenty lined up).
By the way, one stat I forgot to post was about the longest-standing challenge of 56 hrs 48 mins. It was the Avia Bojar by one11.
...and so we wait......

Hi Guys,Happy 2010. You lot have been busy over the last few hours. I've been at a party, then stayed away for the night, hence no updates.
Sorry about doing one you've had before. I did check the list but couldn't see it.

Hi irishair. Take a look at the "sticky" Image Posting on PPrune in Aviation History and Nostalgia. There is plenty of good advice there. For image hosting I personally prefer Photobucket, but thats just a personal preference after struggling with others such as Picasa.

Good evening irishair 2001.
Another way would be to post an Open House whilst you sort out the problem.
This would keep the thread going, on the understanding that once you manage to get something up you would resume control.
I can't think of anything else. Anyone else have any ideas?
