Good afternoon Ton.

I don't see the tie-up - the Acapella was twin boom was it not?

It isn't that.

See post # 8009, and Graeme's response a few posts down.

Acapella 100
I am sure I checked Mel's list, yet when I went back there in order to check again no more than a minute ago, it was there.
Can I put the blame on some kind of sprite or goblin, or it is just my poor head?
Apologies.

I have looked at it.

Fuselage and wings are from a BD-5 but it was a twin-boomer...
This one doesn't have twin booms and is not a jet.

I have to go home in a few minutes and will check in around 1800 Prune time with cluse as required.

In the meantime - this one didn't get off the drawing board and none were built. What type does it look like?

I don't know what you are talking about guys but HappyPass' challenge N455CB is Option Air Acapella 200-S (N455CB c/n 002), at least according to this link: Option Air Acapella 200-S

And back to crop-dusters, which is the current theme.

Yesterday evening, LM.
Sorted out the mistery: I didn't find in Mel's list because I ctrl+F-ed "Acappella" (which to me makes a lot more sense... A cappella - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia )
Reg, the photo sports a "100" label on the engine, so I think the one that wrote that is mistaken. Just nitpicking back to ags, as you say!

Looks like the Acapella has caused a lot of interest! Anyway it was the first time I had seen it. Incidentally as to the exact model it really depends where you look. Airport Data shows it as an Acapella 100 and it appears to have that written on the side. The FAA refers to it as an Acapella. Anyway it was clearly on Mel's list.

LM, your latest bears a lot of similarities to the SAI KZ.XI project - any connection? In fact I'm wondering if it is - but we've had it before.

Similar indeed...
If that's the case however, it shouldn't count... because it would be the second time you guess it!

I'm starting to think that the finite number of aircraft designed and/or is getting too low for our needs...

HappyPass, I asked myself (and others) the same question when I had been on the thread for a couple of months: how many aircraft types there is and are we running out of them.

There are some 24,000 aircraft listed in Wiki List of Aircraft (not all of them have a full article). We are now at 2,303 (status 1 April 2011) plus, so there is a lot of field to plough.

One must consider that not all airplanes are on wiki, but also that a lot of aircraft are too well-known to be posted.

that makes about 9 years left.
I'm pretty happy with that, in fact

Interesting stats - I recall looking at this before (maybe with RR?). Reckon there has to be 50,000 plus types and another few thousand projects. I had a look through a book I had on 1930's aircraft - out of that book of the 100 aircraft it contained, 4 had been posted on SC. Some were of course perhaps too well known, but there had to be a good 50 that are worthy challenges. In short I don't think we need to worry about running out just yet - it may just take a little longer to find them!

As there has been a bit of gossip, just so it is not missed when LM returns;

Good evening Ken.

You know - sometimes I think my one remaining brain cell is fading.

You are of course correct.

You have control.

You are all wrong with the stats - the next important numbers are 1 million and 8000....

I think I'll disappear down a hole for a while...............
