To limit the searches this aircraft is not American. It had a feature which was reportedly a first for its time (discounting the US).

Good afternoon everyone.

It had a feature which was reportedly a first for its time
Would that be rearward folding wings?

Yes it is, not that that's the feature previously referred to.

Could the feature be an autopilot?

I assume it was military.

In many aspects it resembles an ANBO IV from Lihuania....

Designer became the Head of Air Force and was later shot in Moskva. Not an unique feature, though .

First wooden three-blade propeller in Europe.

There's a good reason for that .

Could the feature be an autopilot?
Nope, try the prop.

And yes it was military

Nope, according to Wiki (hence I said "reportedly") this was the first European aircraft with a 3 bladed wooden prop.

RegDep....you are so so close, I am almost tempted to give it to you.

With reference to the Varsity, I flew one once whilst at the Central Flying School.

The RAF knew it as "The Pig", and it sure was, especially after a Lightning!

Has a feature.
Or rather it doesn't - no tailwheel or skid! Have you missed something again?

Would the "feature" be a periscope - looks like it needs one.....

What a bizarre looking machine! Presume its a single seater with the cockpit just behind the high wing? The engine cowl looks entirely out of place! Russian?

missed something again
LM: Well, there was none in the piece of artwork that I used for silhouetting. But there is another wheel in the 3D, more under the belly than in the tail, though...

Here you are:

skytrain: Yes, the engine cowling looks like an ill-fitting winter glove, like one to be expected in the country of origin.
