My first question was : why not BAC Hawk? Answer: Because it is not. Then: Must be Guizhou JL-9 of PRC.

See: My 2001st post.

Not from the Baltics RR.

We are now well over half way through to the Noyade 500 with this challenge.

modded
Modded, no. Externally not. There were half a dozen of versions (some of them unbuilt).

The silhouette has not been "modded" either (save the trembling mouse hand of the silhouetter). The silhouetted picture has been taken a bit West of Brighton.

Well, all I can think of, was my very initial thought when I saw it...the Aero 45....? But the tail looks all wrong if it is?

Skytrain, it is Super Aero 45 (engine Walter Minor)

super aero | flight handling | light twin | 1957 | 1014 | Flight Archive
super aero | ib | elevator trim | 1957 | 1015 | Flight Archive

Well, now that you say, the tail looks a bit weird in the silhouette (was a bit difficult to tidy up from the pic), but not that fundamentally wrong, or is it? .

Skytrain has the floor!

Thanks RD. It was the fact that the tail looked the wrong shape and most importantly had a big "nick" out of it that stopped me from saying Aero 45. The "give away" rounded nose of the Aero 45 series is obviously well hidden otherwise I would have said it immediately. I've been looking at Aero 45's, Super 45's, 145's etc all morning, just to see if there was one with that tail but couldn't find it. But it does serve to remind me, "go with your gut instinct"
Nothing prepared but give me a short while and I'll come up with something.
