Monoplane or bipe?
Kinda matter of definition. Or maybe even taste .

But there is another wheel in the 3D, more under the belly than in the tail, though...
Presumably this wheel is therefore retractable.

Kinda matter of definition.
Can't be. It's either a biplane with two sets of wings or a monoplane with only one.

There is another alternative. RD, is it that it has a removable wing, so can be a biplane or a monoplane?

LM, I dont think it is retractable. I think it has been added to the 3D assuming how it looked. I have seen pictures of it on wheels and on skis, but the tail wheel not visible.

It has two sets of wings.

And sorry, I missed one of your questions in the beginning: No periscope.

And skytrain sigle seat, behind the wing and nothing interchangeable (as far as I understand).

So it's a project without a tailwheel and never flew.

It flew. Several times. And it has been described as monoplane-tandem... A "project", though.

In its first flight, it
... quickly gained the height of 1000 m. The plane made some passes over airdrome, slid, did the eights, showed stability and reliability. Starting roll was 50 to 60 m, landing - only 15 m

Skytrain yes, it is Moscow Aviation Institute student project Ortyabryonok, under direction of professor Grushin.

I call this to you, but wait for your response to LM's offer.

Interesting machine, as you say, tandem wing is probably the best description.

LM. thanks for the offer, but I'll leave it at Open House unless you want to wait 30 mins or so whilst I prepare something.
