They will want the ones who either choose not to or don't know how to find things wrong with aircraft.

I don't know the membership demographic but how will the downsizing of Qantas affect the ALAEA's membership income and it's ability to provide member services. Will this weaken the Association's bargaining ability ?

seldomfixit, this is about cheaper labour, less of it and neutering any industrial strength within Qantas so yes you are correct.

The 12 month QF contracts also tells me that they don't want to use ALG anymore

Here is a tip when Qantas sent those emails out there was no one working at Qantas careers department it was all automated staff were all on leave and had been for over a week and a half and one of those tests was 30 years old or more.

We have 10 staff, myself included. We have lots of new members in the WA growth areas and redundancies aren't high enough at Qf yet to warrant reducing the 10 ALAEA staff to 9. No change in our ability to do anything.

AVA QF people
Anyone know how the numbers stack up for QF lame's at AVA.
I heard there were QF 20 position's to be made redundant.
Is there enough people willing to take VR or relocation offers ?
Good luck to all concerned. Based on my expereince with these HR clowns your going to need all the luck you can get.

There is something funny going on.
Hgr 2 is gutted and just sits there. Tail dock sit in weather and is rusting, containers filled with the gutted equipment and sit there. No one has been near it for weeks.
In H1 I'm told one line is being shut down? Why shut a line down if this is the future? Another rumour....60 ames to go from H3 by end 2013...Is this true?
Over staffed in B2's by 3-4? In this true?
As every day goes by the more it's looks like QE are orchestrating there own demise, as the instructions come from above and the gutless jellyback managers who refuse to question there hierarchy but chose to partake in destroying the industry they rose on.
There is not much we can do but take the money and plan and alternate future. Sure there's a few more years left in us but the number and quality of LAMEs is going in one direction.

There is good news........a swag of middle managers have been created in H1. Yes that's right MORE FAR KING MIDDLE MANAGEMENT !!!!
Just what we need. After all they do SO much work on the coal face and attract so much more third party revenues.....at least they are LAMEs I guess.

Getting this back on track to what's happing in Sydney.
Just wondering were we are upto regarding the CR. I thought the selection critera was meant to be "released" by mid jan?? That is for both LAMEs and AMEs.
I would certainly like to know whether I am in the firing line! It is hard to get motivated with this current situation hanging over all are heads.

It's disappointing to see some still doing OT. Even an AME union rep in yesterday, I suppose he's not too worried about his job but there's plenty of younger guys that are!
Our only hope to reduce the number of scalps at this stage is to let the work pile up so much that they simply can't get rid of so many. Giving up time with your family to help them keep the show going isn't helping our cause.
