good news for blk for once... mean 3 aircraft are needed some mornings, hopefully somemore routes coming over next few months, sure a few other destinations would work a couple of timesa week:):):)
|
Still only two aircraft needed.
There are 2 morning flights and 2 afternoon flights most days and 2 days with only two flights (Tue&Wed) and surprisingly Friday only has 3 flights. Still to announce the BFS route though and unless it is NI based then we can assume some more new routes.;) Would guess on a London and maybe TFS? LPA? |
MUFC Fan
I really can't see a London route from Jet2 out of BLK. Slots are difficult to come by at LGW and they surely stand a better chance sticking with NCL which has a bigger catchment area & is more attractive in terms of distance / time taken to go by rail or other overland alternatives. Judgung by the routes still on sale I would suggest bucket & spade destinations seem to work from BLK whilst cities don't. |
September passenger figures:
BLK-BFS 5400 61%
BLK-DUB 7495 67% BLK-FAO 4775 90% BLK-ALC 7232 81% BLK-GRO 9764 86% BLK-AGP 5837 90% BLK-MJV 4432 83% BLK-PMI 5006 88% Good results for the airport on many of the routes, with Faro and Malaga performing best, I'm guessing because of the perfect golfing weather!;) |
good figures, didnt expect murcia to be doing so well!!!
|
Another golfing destination, but you can see that city destinations are not the stongest from the airport but have been told that the BFS route is the third most profitable from the airport for LS! (After FAO and AGP which can be full even with rediculous fares!
|
If malagas one of their most profitable routes , why is it being dropped between the end of the month and feb, surely there would have been plenty of buisness for winter couple of times a week , once all the landladies had shut up shop!!:}:} Or they more up market now and want tenrifeeeeee????
|
That's probably because it is a summer route and they have hardly any routes from BLK during the winter.
BFS route released today from BLK. Daily and BLK based. |
well monarch seemed to do ok with their winter flights (alledgely) if the PR was anything to go by.just seems odd to stop for 3 months or so , especially over the xmas period, still i guess the have their reasons.
|
Faro?
Has anybody nothiced that Faro not been offered for this winter, last year we had 3 times weekly, what with no malaga as well:{, still if its quiet, maybe the airport will get some improvements done to runway etc ready for next summer....:}:}:}
|
Wouldn't it be better to do any runway improvements during the night ? Mind you that's common sense :ugh: saves operational disruption , this time of year with foggy weather around the NW the airport could be used as a diversion during the day for others .... think ££££££'s .... although it never seems to happen !! why dont operators of 737's and A320' etc divert here ???
|
Well guess its going to be quiet down at blk now summer seasons over, lets hope the maybe some more routes to come next year, no faro, amsterdam or prague(even newquay has prague!!!!) this winter, means theres little more available than what there used to be before jet2 arrived, feel free to shoot me down, if you want...just want to see our little local airport grow.:):):)

Well the current LS schedule from BLK shows that it fits a very tight 'Ryanair-like' timetable. On most days the aircraft are out early morning and return nearing midnight. Most days one of the aircraft will perform a three day rotation with two Spanish routes and BFS.
Obviously this is the currently schedule and there could be more to come with the outcome of the NCL 767 but currently the fligths are alled planned as 733s so no 752 yet!:ugh: As it has been said on many websites, the airline is looking to increase on the IBZ route, whether it means increase the months of service or increase weekly flights it is unkown but if it is the latter then there is currently no room for expansion on the two aircraft which would therefore mean more aircraft needed to be based. However much I want the airport to succeed, I cannot see the field gaining many more destinations for next summer unless FR step in with a couple of routes to SNN etc. Not much more expected from LS and although the airport says it is looking for another major carrier I cannot see this happening with the power of MAN and the 'cheapness' (if that is the right word) of LPL. Having said this, have seen on the Cork thread that LS maybe looking to base an aircraft in ORK (as I say, from another thread :O) which would mean more flights to the North such as LBA and most importantly (;)) BLK. Lets hope that there is some truth in the rumour and see LS take on FR, WW and EI on the NW-ORK routes - daunting task isn't it?!:D:D |
With Jet2 tinkering with the schedules, wonder if the routes will be as successful as this year , especially the pmi routes going from early morning to late afternoon nxt year, personally speaking when goin away i always try and find early flights going out not so bothered coming back, just look at as losing a days holiday if ur not arriving at your destination unitl late at night, think really that was the problem with monarch malaga flight , you werent arriving till 1 or 2 am that was its downfall...., still new operators would be great, just look at the list of operators a newquay, they have at lezst 2 london links with ryanair and BA of all people, why not blk?
|
You say that you loose a day of your holiday by travelling early evening, I disagree. By travelling early evening you return late evening which means that you have one extra full day. If you travel out during the morning the you arrive at lunch time and loose a full day as you have to fly home just after lunch the following week, 2 weeks etc. It didn't make any difference to the loads on any of the flights during this winter that deprted between 16:00 and 18:30 (MJV, PMI etc.) The problem with the ZB service was that it arrived as you say, at 2:00am which is completely different from the PMI service which arrives back at BLK before mid-night!
The difference between NQY and BLK is that BLK has MAN and LPL for neighbours! MAN has unlimited connects to LON and there are also hundreds of trains to LON from the NW. BE and LH have launched afew services from NQY over the past few weeks - in the North West they only see MAN. Simple. |
thats what i meant , if u leave early and come back late, you gain an extra day, by flying out late, you lose most of ur first day if not all, that my opinion other people probably prefer late flights to suit them(cost/work/travelling to airport etc...)
|
Bit of a poor sight on the BLK departure board. Just BFS, GRO, DUB and loads of IOM! Shame really as LS had a good winter last time around!
The TFS service on Tuesday currently has one seast available and forward bookings look excellent. Don't know why they don't do their 'W' pattern with the 752 again as there was always a good load on these flights also, atleast increase the number of flights! Lets hope next summer is better! (Well, form April when the new 'Jet2 summer' begins.' |
is it a 75 or 73 doing the tfs? and as for this winter compared to last , well the airport can hardly be covering its costs what with just 3 73s a day, o.k you dont need as many staff, but as mufc says , departure board looks very sick:uhoh::uhoh::uhoh: Wonder when we'll see new revised airport plans again ....:uhoh:
Is gro staying daily or dropping down for winter, sorry if i sound negative, would love nothing better than see the airport busy, just makes one wonder whether they should have put all(majority) their eggs in one basket with jet2? Looking at monday's flights theres only 1 flight with j2 out and thats to belfast. |
1. TFS service will be Boeing 737-300 (G-CELJ)
2. GRO will drop down to 4x weekly. In the summer, the route has one of the highest loads on the GRO network but during the winter, GRO doesn't attract as many people - mainly only for Barcelona and you may get a few hundred using it for Andorra etc. 3. The airport has had cost cutters in over the last month to try and reduce costs but when you see their car parks and their prices you can't see why they need these! Businesses don't just use money that is available at the time. BLK will be using money they have made during the summer and have saved to keep them afloat during the winter season. Most airlines do this, especially EZY who are still making a loss during the winter season - nearing break even though!;) 4. Thursday is the quietest day with only BFS and DUB plus the usualy IOMs! |
thanks for your help there mufc, hadnt decided on flights to tenerife, can the old girls get to tenerife in one go, or do they need to stop off on way?
