BLK-Cork 2008
The Cork thread on this site and also another similar comment on !!!!!!!!!!!!!! are showing BLK-ORK 3 times per week, Jet2.
More routes please!!!:ok: |
November 2007 PAX figures
BLK-DUB 6787 60%
BLK-GRO 5241 82% BLK-ALC (LS) 2053 87% BLK-ALC (TOM) 732 70% BLK-LPA 264 44% BLK-TFS 1637 79% BLK-BFS 3383 38% BLK-IOM 1920 57% Highest performing route: BLK-ALC (LS) Superb seeing as the competition was also getting a high load factor! Shame to see TOM pull the flights. Worst performing route: BLK-BFS Not a good month for the airline on this route but with the introduction of BLK-ORK, we can see that LS still believe that BLK isn't just a bucket and spade airport. Month total: 23662 (-43.9%!!!:{) Monthly load average: 65% Rolling year, the airport is seeing a current rise of just under 4% year for PAX numbers. Lets hope they increase next year with the (hopefully!) re-introduction of the LON route and new routes to ORK and IBZ! |
BFS figures
It's no wonder the BFS figures are poor, the flight time is neither here nor there for business travel...it's not a BLK based a/c now which might have someting to do with it.
Simple answer: base 3 at BLK again next summer, have an early BFS out/in and move the afternoon one back to 4pm out, 5pm back. Common sense surely? |
They had this earlier on last summer and the morning flight was cancelled when PRG, AMS and STN were dropped. I'm guessing due to poor PAX numbers.
To be honest, I don't think it bothers LS. They are making money on the route as it is only 20-25 mins and the fares are quite high after the first 10-15 seats. I agree with you that the current schedule does not suit business travellers at all but neither does 4pm. The main users of the route are from NI and are in England for NHS reasons at the major hospitals in the North West. |
what ever hapned to prg/ams being brought back for he winter, seeing as they are or being in the process of ending from man?
|
PRG: CSA are suppsedly going 3x daily on the route from MAN and WW also have exceptional loads which obviously LS couldn't compete with at either MAN or BLK.
AMS: As LS come off of the route there has been talk of KLM increasing flights but also EZY will probably end up on the route. LS are having a bad winter from both BLK and MAN as routes are disappearing, appearing, frequencies changed and the programme on offer from BLK si to say the least appauling. It's good their loads are excellent otherwise they would have walk after October! |
Well if they dont offer what the public want, you cant expect them to buy whats offered, if it don't suit the traveller. Certainly would hope the aiports talking to other operators about routes,as they certainly can't rely on jet2 alone, said many months ago, putting to many eggs in one basket, makes you wonder why the airport wants to build a new terminal, what loosing thomson on both charter flights, couple of years ago, first choice were doing tenerife from here as well, and monarch dropping malaga, certainly been a year of up and downs for our little airport. It seems like its being said on the man thread,as well LS arrived all singing and dancing promising so much, and ending up offering little or nothing now the competion has moved out(in blk case)Compared to a couple of years ago besides the daily bfs, us blk/lanc punters have an extra alc flight a week, its annoying that we now have to travel to man/lpl to get to agp when we have an excellent airport on our doorstep. Anyway guys and gals , appologies if i sound negative but as a pax, i know great many people would travel from blk if they could, maybe besides asking about london, perhaps they should ask aswell what other routes would be popular if they were available, although as has been said anything that does seem to work are sun routes, so hopefully winter 08/09 will have a better offering.:ok::ok:
WEll have a great Christmas and Merry New Year!!!! |
take-off,
You speak perfect sense. The airport is drastically underserved and hopefully the new CEO will be able to turn the airport's fortunes around. Gareth Kennedy said that there is room at the airport for one other major carrier, and a strongly believe this is true, although I believe that the airline must be based. With another airline supposedly deep in talks with the airport about the reserection of the London route which will obviously be the highlight of next summer. With IBZ and ORK (according to another PPRuNer) already announced by or in the pipeline with Jet2, I cannot see many more summer routes unless FR are to launch other destinations from it's other bases. Next winter, I believe that we probably wont see much happening. What the airport needs is a based a/c from either FCA/TOM or TCX/MYT who will be able to offer destinations around Europe. BLK is known now for mainly being a bucket and spade airport, why not exploit that? The new merged companies have many spare aircraft after they reduce and inter-line their schedules, a B733/A320 would suit the airport perfectly! So, I predict: S08 - IBZ(LS), ORK(LS), LON(??) aswell as other LS/M2/FR stuff W08/09 - ALC(LS), BFS(LS), TFS(LS), ORK(LS) aswell as FR, M2 and LON stuff S09 - Same S08 but with a based a/c from TOM/FCA merger!;) |
W08 BLK needs a ski flight
When you look at the BLK catchment areas, there are more than enough locals in Poulton, Lytham, Lancaster/South Lakes who can afford a ski hol (or two?) and fill a 733 ski flight from BLK...ideally thur/mon that way you could capture non-skiing weekenders too.
BLK-Geneva or Chambery I bet it would be chocka. Come on LS, why aren't you having these ideas and getting stuff sorted...the hotel bit is taken care of on your website already, just get the route up and running:ugh: |
Unfortunately the expansion of easyjet at MAN will be to the detriment of Blackpool. Did they ever consider EGNH .. doubt it .Unless LS can conjure up any new routes then I'm sorry but I think the bubble has burst. Who would build a new terminal when you dont have full capacity in the existing terminal and the en-suite arrivals tent !:(
I am a supporter of EGNH but sadly , less than 50 minutes down the M6 We have MAN with a wealth of choice , unless some serious cash investment is thrown at EGNH to upgrade airfield facilities I think this is as good as it gets. The runway needs re-surfacing soon , so I think We need to get used to the sight of Let 410's , Metroliners and soon DO-228's of Manx 2 . Would have thought Manx 2 might have looked at extra routes from Blackpool by now :ugh: |
When does the land become more valuable than the business? Readin in local paper last night, how local councils are working together to attract business to area particularly around airport area and by B&Q at end of M55.Think the worse thing to happen to the airport, would be to build on anymore land around it, attract the jobs yes, and quality ones too. Another thing, while im on a rant, just to get it off my chest, why is the airport rarely advertised these days, ironic really that when you drive down squies gate lane towards morrisons, that thomson are/have been advertising flights from Man on the big hoardings in the airport carpark.
BLKsherrif, do agree a ski flight should have done fine from blk ,wha with the catchment area of lytham/st annes, with it being a fairly wealthy area. As has been said , think its an opportunity at blk thats been missed and will be for the next few years for now. Plus i know i bang on about this. A winter AGP, there must be many locals as said above that have spanish homes in that area(it worked for monarch till they messed the times up!):ugh::ugh::ugh::mad: |
Companies like tcx/myt or fc/tom like to keep their aircraft during the summer in the air . As blk closes maybe that is the problem . I saw in the summer that a LS agp flight was 10 minutes late and had to divert . It is also normal during winter seasons that destinations are cut back .
During my time as cabin crew for aih at stn during the summer the aircraft was flying to 18 destinations and cut back to 9 during winter. As far as i am aware there is a permanant ls 737 in blk so the market must not be there |
Oh it is there!
There are thousands of people braving MAN and LPL because they have no choice. BLK provides the perfect alternative to these airports and people who live in the Lake District are having to go to MAN instead because the flights simply aren't on offer. Also, they aren't advertised enough! Yes, LS have t.v. adverts for BLK but it always says 'MAN's low cost airline!' BLK needs a new airline that will serve the destinations needed. I like the way in which GSM operate their schedule (when its on time!). They fly to many destinations but only 2-3 times weekly, with the exceptions of ALC, AGP etc. BLK needs a new airline soon if they wish to survive against FR and EZY who are slowing starting to take hold of MAN and LPL. |
Its the same story at HUY, thousands are travelling out of the area to fly from other airports.
Unfortunately for airports like BLK and HUY the other, larger catchment airports like LPL and MAN will always get the airlines. Make use of whats on offer, its hard to expect a lot more by the looks of it... |
When are we to hear about the BLK-ORK route?
Cheers. |
All things quiet down at our local airport? Given ryanair a open a 1 plane base at boh , how about blk gettin a chance for a few new routes, must be some routes that'l work , i know banged on about this , but not everyone wants to travel to man/lpl or for that lba, If blks a bucket and spade operation, which most people reckon jet2 are heading, maybe some more sun routes then, anybody? ANy news on london route?
opps thread needs bringin back up , slipped to page 4!!!!!!:( |
You just beat me to it - the silence from Blackpool is deafening. Surely somebody must have some info re London route - unless we are just being strung along that is.
|
