June 2007 Passenger figures

BLK - BFS 4302 48.4%
BLK - STN 1036 68.5% (only operated 4 return flights)
BLK - IOM 2632 Unable to calculate but most flights were full during the month due to TT.
BLK - DUB 8050 70.9%
BLK - AMS 261 44.1% (only operated 2 return flights)
BLK - FAO 3691 73.4%
BLK - ALC 6604 74.4%
BLK - GRO 9787 86.3%
BLK - AGP 5347 82.1%
BLK - MJV 4017 75.4%
BLK - PMI 4882 75.0%

Total month pax (inc. charters) = 53636 which is a 9.6% increase on last years total with a rolling 12 month figure of 594197. This is still a good climb considering the fall of STN, 1/2 BFS, PRG and AMS.3

Best performing route: GRO - 86.3%
Worst performing route: BFS - 48.4%. :uhoh: Flights to operate daily through winter so LS still trying to develop the route.

virginblue 13th August 2007 14:47

Hmmm, LS developing IOM ???

Worst performing route: IOM - 48.4%. Flights to operate daily through winter so LS still trying to develop the route
I suppose you mean BFS? I was wondering if in those BFS figures any Max2 pax flying BLK-IOM-BFS are included? (if there are any - but I think Manx2 sells BLK-BFS/BHD, don't they?)

MUFC_fan 13th August 2007 14:51

virginblue,

Cheers.

M2 operate from bother airports to BLK, but on the figures, there are no passengers said to travel between BLK and BHD, so I would say not. I think they are classed as BLK-IOM then IOM-BFS (IOM gettin' double figures there!;))

Does anybody use the M2 BLK-BFS/BHD services? Or do you use WW/BE/EZY from the other two airports for a morning flight? I have used LS from BLK and it is SOO much easier than MAN and LPL which take an age to get through.

MUFC_fan 15th August 2007 21:16

I have just been looking at the BLK revamp plans (as you do!:})?

Does anybody have any ideas if they are actually to materialise, an if so when?

Any pictures?

Cheers.

Best performing route: Gerona 87.8% (Maybe an increase next summer to 10 weekly?;))
Worst performing route: Belfast 65.8% (Great to see the route back on a respectable load and full credit to LS for sticking with the route!)

Talking to one of the lads who works for AMS? (used to be emerald engineering) looks like once all the ATP's and 748's have gone they will be getting Jetstreams in and refurbing those and so on and so on,..........

take-off 25th August 2007 15:35

Next summer now available from blk with j2, at moment their seems a cut in number of flights compared to this ,guess its still early days but alicante is down from daily to just 4 times a week, a cut on murcia too, so cant see any more based planes coming blk way:uhoh:,infact a quik/rough working out by the times given so far shows the need for only 2 planes with one only on a wed, hopefully this might mean another route or 2 hopefully, c'mon Jet2 lets see some more, or does people think we got all we'll get.P.s a summer canary route would be nice:}:}:ok:

Before anyone says im being negative, its good to see j2 puttin blk flights on sale early, Do any of you think any other routes would be succesful from blk? A city route would be nice, even if it was in spain again, maybe barcelona??;)

MUFC_fan 27th August 2007 08:02

Barcelona would be along way down the list with FR serving the GRO route absolutely superbly.

London is the main route that needs replacing, with a Polish route also needed. Maybe SkyEurope will pull MAN for BLK?!:} On a serious note, Eastern European and London routes are needed to keep with competitors.

take-off 27th August 2007 08:48

What happended to prague/amsterdam coming back for winter, must have done alright last winter for them to keep it going for summer(ish!!!)?

toledoashley 27th August 2007 09:36

BLK seems to be going out of fashion with both FR and LS. LPL has exploded and BLK has got left behind (a little like CVT and EMA). Think we will see more reductions some how.

rufus.t.firefly 27th August 2007 17:48

Was their some fun and games with Jet2 or the airport last night ? heard people had to be bussed to/from Manchester , couple of coaches turned up this evening as well ?????

For the masterplan check out the airport website , it used to be a downloadable document I think. As to if it will happen ..........have the owners got the cash to do it ??? with the current activity levels I wouldn't bother... plenty of room on the apron for Chieftains ...;)

:ugh::ugh:

MUFC_fan 15th September 2007 21:11

Still trying to understand why LS have reduced the frequencies for next summer on two of the routes. Would have thought that AGP would have been made daily with MJV, PMI and FAO raising to atleast five times weekly with ALC remaining at daily. Obviously, LS are losing interest in BLK and are only going to base 2 a/c next summer.

Shame really as the airport has shown great potential. What the airport really needs is another carrier to shake things up.

Also, if FR are to expand their base at Bergamo and start up at MXP and make Milan their 'European hub', could BLK see a flight from one of these airports? Surely FR are due a new route from BLK!

lagerlout 16th September 2007 08:47

reduced too 2 based a/c..... may have something to do with how prohibitive with night closures the airport is.... I am sure LS are still counting the cost of all the diversions!! ( just for a 15 min extensions)

Jet2 at Blackpool

I've noticed in recent weeks that Jet2 are advertising on ITV for routes to Amsterdam and Prague from Blackpool. Why are these routes not on Jet2 website.
I was hoping to book short break, but it appears that the public are being mis-lead, unless an announcement is about to happen?
Anyone else seen these adverts? Amsterdam and Prague were axed earlier in the summer.
We love flying from Blackpool-so easy compared to Manchester. Looks like our short breaks will have to be from Manchester in future.

take-off 16th September 2007 18:14

THink i may have asked before, but forgotten or nobody knew at time .Does anybody know what airline will be in to do the Gran Canaria flights in Nov? ALso interesting to hear amsterdam being adverstised from blk on tv, sure it was probably a mistake, unless its coming back for winter:ok::ok: hope so , as it'l save me treking to man, still if you look on J2 website at the destinations, click on blk and prague is highlighted, as said probably an error, anyway still id like another canary island flight please:}:}:}
Any rumours of any new dest for next summer? Tenerife, Cyprus, think a weekly flight Ibiza could do well, im sure theres some destinations that could be served from blk on a 1 or 2 times a week basis,

MUFC_fan 19th September 2007 21:50

So...MAN gets another LON link and again BLK and LPL miss out.

Have also noticed that BLK have reduced their expect pax results for this year to 550,000 passengers (which they already passed before the busy August month began). The airport said that they are constantly looking for a resurector of the LON route - obviously not trying hard enough!

If LS have finished loading their winter 07/08 timetable they really do have some problems at BLK - only TFS and ALC on a BLK based aircraft with the BFS flight being NI based. MAN also has alot of flights missing for the W07/08!

sqanze 20th September 2007 14:31

growing airport? nar,

Won't be too long before Blackpool Airport becomes a huge building site..for hundreds and hundres of houses. :DYour going nowhere, except backwards !!;)

rpmac 20th September 2007 14:48

Blackpool. Surely there is scope for increased business out of Blackpool as the evidence shows people want to use their local airport and not have to travel distances to get to larger airports for business or holidays. In the States there are many small successful airports and out of these there are connecting flights through major hubs, such as Atlanta. Blackpool and other small regional airports could develop these services in addition to the holiday flights to Malaga, etc.

123mollywest 20th September 2007 16:48

Surely Blackpool can make a go of it. I know that the spanish routes have been busy and so many locals enjoy using Blackpool, due to not having to battle to Manchester.
Come on Jet 2, more routes wanted out of Blackpool please.

FlyerFoto 20th September 2007 18:01

Won't get any more of these out of BLK though.....
