Prior to British Eagle, the very first schedule was by Starways, from 1960 onwards, with a weekly summer seasonal DC-3 GLA to NQY via EXT.

Also don't forget Air Southwest GLA to NQY & PLH, flown by Dash 8 most days year-round 2008-11.
Loganair came on first time around for a seasonal GLA-NQY schedule using Saab 340 in 2012-13, after demise of Air Southwest.

To be fair to 01475, they did say 'markets' (plural). Apologies if I'm wrong but it seems they are talking about Loganair's general expansion. Brussels-Newcastle and Stavanger-Newcastle have had a few operators to date, only some of whom were successful, as to a lesser extent has Newcastle-Guernsey. 01475 has a point.

According to the Glasgow page, Flybe are to end the GLA-MAN route from the 26th October.

I wonder if Loganair will pick up the route? Do they have the aircraft capacity to do so?

Thanks for publishing the results of your archaeological dig :ok:

Thinking of more modern times (since the RAF left) and in terms of Loganair expansion, I was just musing that they should at least be given a season or two to make a success before having the "failure" word thrown at them...........

Nice to see the first ATR in LM colours. Wonder how well they'll fit into the fleet?

It's a bit different. They are only focusing on these kinds of routes and offering realistic prices and frequencies. They aren't promoting themselves as a low cost carrier or offering prices to reflect that either. They are also not throwing money away trying to compete with larger carriers on trunk routes using much smaller aircraft.

PSO and corporate contracts also form part of LMs network too.

I can see it woking out for them where others have failed because they seem to be more sensible about it all.

Can't be long until we hear about the Dundee PSO too, given that it ends in just over 3 weeks. (If Loganair win it, that is!)

Yes the announcement has been a long time in coming out .

Atlantic Explorer 8th Oct 2019 07:42

Not really hugely contested is it. Can’t think of anyone else who is interested who can operate out of Dundee, especially after Flybe ran a mile few years back.

The real interest is will it be another Loganair route to SEN or will it be LCY?

BAladdy 9th Oct 2019 00:57

Any update when the first ATR42 is expected to be delivered?

Do we know where they are coming from? And where they currently are?

ETOPS 9th Oct 2019 09:23

First one appears to be an ATR-72 G-LMRZ (ex OY-YAN) currently in Billund.

That's the ATR-72 (I knew about that one), I was referring to the ATR-42 that the original poster was asking about.

Thanks anyway.
