EDI STN EDI shows as operating at least till mid March.

CELW is at LBA for its end of life check, after which it will position to Kemble for decommissioning. Once the Royal Mail contract is finished the remaining QCs will be demodified to a passenger-only configuration.

KelvinD 17th Jan 2017 14:58

Purely by chance, just watched G-CELW descending into Kemble on ADS-B. 15:55 17 Jan.

sixfootfive 19th Jan 2017 10:49

G-CELW. Of Top Gear fame I believe?

azz767 19th Jan 2017 11:44

G-CELW. Of Top Gear fame I believe?
Yes the episode where they raced the royal mail to deliver a letter from the channel islands to the shetlands, there was also a 737 in a full royal mail livery in that episode i remember, dont know what became of that aircraft

MKY661 19th Jan 2017 11:46

If it was the Titan 737, that's now with Atlantic Airlines as G-JMCT

canberra97 19th Jan 2017 19:03

MKY661

I'm not sure but I don't think any of the Titan 737s were actually painted in the full Royal Mail colours only the Jet2 737s so the one seen on the Top Gear episode was more than likely a Jet2 aircraft and not the one you mentioned.

Jet2 have never painted their aircraft in Royal Mail colours. G-CELW was in the Channel Express livery before it was painted the Jet2 Grey/Silver. The Royal Mail liveried 737 looks to be an SF, so can't be a Jet2 one. Most likely to be Titan.

CCGE29 19th Jan 2017 19:52

Royal Mail c/s was Titan Airways G-ZAPV. As previously mentioned the aircraft is now with Atlantic Airways as G-JMCT. Previously with Philippine Airlines, Go Fly & easyJet.

4Screwaircrew 19th Jan 2017 19:55

ZAPV was in Royal Mail colours, I flew it on a base training flight for Titan when I was working at Jet2.

garry8g 20th Jan 2017 12:50

According to Jethro's, Jet2 rumoured to be acquiring at least two secondhand Boeing 738's (GDRTA / GGDHI).

Anyone know anything more? Where these aircraft are coming from?

canberra97 20th Jan 2017 22:07

Thanks gents I stand corrected regarding Jet2/Titan and the Royal Mail livery.

EK77WNCL 21st Jan 2017 17:48

So the Jet2 reg sequences...
G-LSA* (LS - IATA code)
G-JZH* (JZH - J2H "Jet2holidays")
G-DRT* (DRT - Dart group)

So what do G-CEL* and G-GDF* stand for? I assume "CEL" might have something to do with Channel Express?

And is that correct, G-GDHI? Is G-GDH* a new sequence? I hope not... In my current line of work, GDH is a faecal chemical that means you have C. Diff...

GDF = Great Deal Friendlier

garry8g 21st Jan 2017 18:42

GDH = Great Deal Holidays ?????

garry8g 21st Jan 2017 18:49

Been told in another forum that it's G-GDFI (not G-GDHI) to come, along with G-DRTA.

If that's the case, I don't see why they didn't use G-JZHI as well then ?? Unless there is a third second hand B737-800 coming along?

LBIA 21st Jan 2017 19:11

G-CEL* Yeap you guess correct (Channel Express)

G-LSA* (LS - IATA code) & postcode for HQ

irishlad06 16th Feb 2017 22:59

G-DRTA is coming from Air Europa and should arrive at the end of FEB in NWI for its entry into service. EC-JBJ is it's current registration.

G-DRTB is coming from TUIfly and should be here late Feb early Mar and is currently registered D-AHFV.

These are two additional frames ontop of the new frames still currently being delivered.

G-JZHV is next and is due from Seattle in the jet2.com silver livery at the end of Feb.

Jet2_320 21st Feb 2017 21:35

Sorry guys you all got it wrong with regards to GDF
GDF was/is used by jet2.com management of how to deal with their staff if a mistake is made and is based on the North Korean model of how to deal with people. ;)

GDF = Grounded Disciplined Fired

G-CELS Moving to new home

Not sure if anyone was aware but G-CELS at Norwich is due to move to it's new home this weekend, being towed into the new KLM Academy , then they can complete the building works on the front of the building

garry8g 22nd Feb 2017 18:45

Jet2's latest brand new B737-800, G-JZHV, is on it's way to the UK.

Don't know if it's heading for Leeds or Manchester......but given the weather forcast...could be Manchester.

LAX_LHR 22nd Feb 2017 19:06

Been listed as Manchester for about a week on their system.

LBIA 22nd Feb 2017 19:31

Jet2 A330 (AirTanker lease)

I was having a look through the AirTanker fleet, to see which aircraft was possibly joining Jet2 for Summer 17. (Thomas Cook have G-VYGK, used for last couple of years , and also have G-VYGM joining for Summer 17).

I'm wondering if it will be G-VYGL, as this has recently just been painted in all white(from the normal grey), and would allow for the red 'Jet2' titles to put on, much like Titan's A321?

It would seem the logical choice...:)

BasilFawlty 27th Feb 2017 18:29

Since those three are the only ones in use for commercial passenger services, G-VYGL would make sense indeed.

Off Stand 27th Feb 2017 21:40

You are correct, G-VYGL is indeed the aircraft heading to Jet2 for the summer.

ssflyer 27th Feb 2017 22:02

When BHX was launched as a base for 2017, the Jet2 announcement indicated "3 new 737-800's" would be based there from April so perhaps some of the new deliveries will be based there...?
SS

BasilFawlty 27th Feb 2017 22:04

New doesn't mean the newest ones, could be any frame starting from G-JZHJ.

irishlad06 28th Feb 2017 00:40

The A330 is confirmed to be painted in full jet2holidays livery so white is a good starting point. Painting should be completed in next few weeks.

Flying Wild 28th Feb 2017 05:58

I think you'll find the base is opening with four of the new 737-800's.

What routes are LS going to be using the 330 on?

Johnny F@rt Pants 28th Feb 2017 08:58

What routes are LS going to be using the 330 on?
The morning Palma daily, plus RHO, ACE, another Palma on a weekend afternoon plus a couple of other routes that I can't remember. All ex MAN.

GLAinsider 1st Mar 2017 15:55

It will be operating MAN-TFS also.

garry8g 2nd Mar 2017 16:02

Jet2 just acquired another second hand B737-800, arriving Apr/May 17, ex Transaero E-IRUG, bringing that to 3 secondhand planes this year....so far!

lbalad 4th Mar 2017 21:25

When is the A330 due to arrive?

Is it likely to make an appearance at LBA if only for PR purposes?

B712 6th Mar 2017 19:08

When is the A330 due to arrive?
G-VYGL will arrive at Manchester on the 24th May.

As for the Leeds visit, it has no reason to visit Leeds, I understand it will be solely based at Manchester, including maintenance, if needed.

:)

snowman 1 7th Mar 2017 08:28

b712
re the leeds visit
some people were wondering with leeds being head office would pm use the opportunity
for some good free publicity such as look north and the yep, this would be good for jet 2
holidays.

Junta Leader 9th Mar 2017 13:55

Jethros reporting speculation that G-GDHI might not be joining the fleet.

chaps1954 9th Mar 2017 14:36

I`m sure I read somewhere that MAN will be losing the B733 before summer is this correct and if so do we have a date?

LBIA 9th Mar 2017 15:07

Forward bookings must be doing well as Jet2 are adding yet more flights from Leeds/Bradford for summer 2017.

Ibiza increases from 8x to 9x weekly.
Corfu increases from 1x to 2x weekly
Zakynthos increases from 3x to 4x weekly
