Didnt take long for Jet2 to start messing with their new toy. G-JZHJ has had chrome leading edges fitted around the engine intakes instead of the dullish grey ones fitted in the factory.

Its also wearing friendly low fares titles on the fuselage and named Jet2Ibiza

They are not chrome and not new, other than the ones delivered with the a/c.
Airlines sometimes polish the engine intakes and the leading edges of the wings.:ok:

LiamNCL 26th Sep 2016 05:55

I didnt realise they polished up so shiny ;)

G-LSAG

I see G-LSAG is once again broken having diverted back to Manchester today whilst operating LS891 to ACE, the second time in a week (the same happened on Sunday and it hadn't flown since) and the fourth time in a month (before Sunday it hadn't flown for a week after it's previous return).

I know these Chinese 21Bs are rough anyway but is it time to call it a day with AG? it must be costing them a fortune!

It is over 28 years old now, in fairness most 757's that age are now Freight!

Not true.

AG had flown several times after its hic-cups a couple of weeks ago, and I believe that it had flown post its return to base earlier this week prior to today's return.

The issues this week are totally unrelated to the ones a couple of weeks ago.

There are plenty of aeroplanes knocking around of a similar age, these aeroplanes are treated with plenty of TLC and have a good few years left yet. Nobody blinks an aye at BA's B747's flying around that are of a similar vintage.

Curious Pax 6th Oct 2016 13:07

You're quite right Johnny, however in this online age the local media have picked up on all this, including the fact that this is 4 times in a month for 'AG. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if they get pax refusing to travel on it at some point when it returns to service, complete with sad-eyed photos in the Manchester Evening News about their ruined holiday. It may be that Jet2 decide the reputation cost of keeping it on outweighs the cost of retiring it from the fleet.

Brigantee 6th Oct 2016 15:27

Aircraft and any other machine for that matter are only as good as the care they receive , Perhaps sorting the issues might be more sensible

Jet2 dont want a repeat of the door debacle a few years back thats for sure

Incident: Jet2 B752 at Manchester on Oct 6th 2016, flaps problem

irishlad06 7th Oct 2016 21:49

New aircraft number 2, GJZHK on the way from BWI to EMA to be painted. Aircraft will then Go to Leeds to be kitted out before taking up its base at MAN.

G-LSAG being put through its paces this afternoon at NCL . Hopefully theres life in the old bird yet.

It has been said on Jet2 group page on Facebook, that the new 738 has been damaged out in Spain???

Johnny [email protected] Pants 14th Oct 2016 07:42

According to Plane Finder it operated LBA/TFS/LBA yesterday, the inbound looks like it went a little late. Perhaps steps or baggage belt struck the aeroplane and an inspection might have been required. It flew back though, so I can only assume it wasn't significant.

take-off 14th Oct 2016 07:50

Yes lets hope so ,:ooh: Always the way when you get something new..;):ouch:

LBIA 14th Oct 2016 10:17

So that 2x dints in her, Someone else also pranged it down route last week in Spain with the steps.

Disruptive Jet2 passenger ordered to pay for airline's losses

All names taken 19th Oct 2016 15:42

Very good news. This will send out a powerful message to the drunks and idiots who think they are the only people that matter on a flight.
Well done Jet2 and I hope this becomes standard practice for other airlines.

Aside of their other selling points, I think for many ordinary holidaymakers after a stress free time, their attitude to towards morons who try to make other passenger's life a misery is one of the biggest reasons for travelling with them.

All other airlines need to watch and learn.

paully 19th Oct 2016 17:46

Two in a week!!

Here are details of the second judgement Jet2 got, this time at Carlisle County Court 2 days earlier: Drunk passenger banned from Jet2 and ordered to pay compensation after causing severe disruption on Edinburgh flight - Daily Record

Strong management taking a stance against idiots who disrupt life for ordinary travellers..Well done :D

Callum Paterson 22nd Oct 2016 13:52

Can anyone from Jet2 translate the following message into a factual explanation?

We’re sorry our online check-in limit, of seats that we can allocate automatically, has been reached so we’ve switched you to airport check-in. Please do not worry, there isn’t a problem with your booking and your seat(s) will be allocated at the airport. Please note you will not be charged any additional fees for collecting your boarding pass at the airport.
Needless to say I'm pretty p!ssed off with Jet2. I selected online check-in as I'm travelling with hand luggage only and with a departure time of 07:30 I planned to arrive at GLA at around 06:30 and go straight to the departure gate. Now it looks like I'll have the joys of getting up an hour earlier, leaving the house an hour earlier and spending an hour more than planned hanging about an airport terminal at silly o'clock in the morning. All so I can have some teenager wearing a copious amount of make-up ask me if I packed my bags myself.

Thank's very much Jet2.

Why should she ask you that when you said you were travelling with hand baggage only !

Thomsons do the same. They only have a certain percentage of seats available for OLCI. After they've all been allocated you can only check in at the airport. If you're late to check in online, or a lot of people have already prebooked seats then you're out of luck.

Not yet. :)

I would suggest that if you arrive at the airport at 06:30 you'll still be fine. Check in closes about 40 mins before departure, if there's a queue you will get pulled out and moved to the front of the queue.

For an explanation, airlines have to keep a certain percentage of seats unreserved for those that don't pre-book them, the way to prevent this from happening to you again you should check-in online sooner.

mathers_wales_uk 22nd Oct 2016 22:08

The issue here is that having a certain number of seats available allows opportunities to resolve any potential seating issues.

PRM customers may be in unsuitable seats, Families may be split up etc.

You never know, you may get a extra legroom seat if everything else has been taken up.

Thomson Airways aslo doe exactly the same and so do many others.

LiamNCL 23rd Oct 2016 19:10

Been 5x 738s working at NCL last few days and 5x set to depart tomorrow when only 4x 738s have been allocated all Summer. Has a 733 been upgraded ?

Johnny [email protected] Pants 23rd Oct 2016 20:27

Probably just movement of the fleet to cater for 1/2 term. Scottish 1/2 terms are different weeks, so the extra aeroplanes might have been swapped round with GLA or EDI to provide extra capacity.

Birmingham W17/18

Seven new routes now on the website: Funchal (1 weekly), Geneva (3 weekly), Grenoble (1 weekly), Kraków (2 weekly), Prague (2 weekly), Salzburg (1 weekly), Turin (1 weekly).

All names taken 26th Oct 2016 14:20

Well they are all going to be 'new routes' aren't they since it will be the first Winter season Jet2 have a presence there. Unless you are saying that routes such as Geneva and Prague have never been served from BHX before, which I'm sure you're not.
Are you working for the PR department at BHX?

That's a bit harsh! They are new routes for Jet2 at BHX; and it's good to see some imagination in offering Prague and Krakow.

I see West Atlantic have increased their share of the Royal Mail Contract. Is this at Jet2's expense? Or Titan?

HH6702 28th Oct 2016 11:12

How many aircraft does west Atlantic have operating in the U.K. Already?

CCGE29 28th Oct 2016 11:14

Jet2's next 738 G-JZHL (c/n 63568) is due into MAN in the early hours (29/10/16) on delivery. Believe it's in the holidays livery.

LBIA 28th Oct 2016 11:34

Yeah G-JZHL is in part Jet2holidays livery due into MAN at 0235 from BFI, Will be going to down to EMA tomorrow to have paint job finished.

Meanwhile G-JZHM took its first flight on Wednesday afternoon departing RNT for BFI

Jet2 didn't tender for most of the Royal Mail this time round. I understand that Royal Mail chose 1 operator to provide their service, so I assume Titan missed out if they submitted a tender.

SWBKCB 28th Oct 2016 15:32

West Atlantic has been awarded a contract by Royal Mail Group (UK) to add additional aircraft to its network in 2017. The contract, which commences in January 2017, will run for a duration of five years and will consist of nine Boeing 737s and three British Aerospace ATP aircraft...

...West Atlantic was selected to be the sole provider of aircraft capable of carrying between 8-21 tonnes...
Quote from the West Atlantic press release linked above

Council Van 28th Oct 2016 19:49

With the QC's soon to leave the fleet Jet2 only bid for the Belfast with the dedicated freighter.

The post office decided they wanted one operator to cover all their flights hence Atlantic being the ideal operator.

MKY661 28th Oct 2016 19:55

Speaking of QC's leaving the fleet one has positioned to Kemble today according to Jethro's (G-CELZ). Another 5 to leave this winter was the rumour I heard but not sure which exact ones.
