I talk purely in terms of actual landing (or departing) flights per week. I would hope that you are right about capacity increasing. There is a net gain of 3 extra landings per week in high Summer compared with 2017 high Summer wherever the aircraft may be based. I hope like you that there is more to come!
I agree a 737 800 is too big for AMS, CDG, DUS etc just as it was too big for Lubeck, Madrid, Geneva, Sardinia and Toulouse etc from LBA. Just as an ATR42 is too big for Cork. Where LBA is geographically located means that millions upon millions of LBA's own catchment population, many living within a few miles of the airport are jumping straight onto the motorway or trans pennine express and using a different airport. I know you love LBA, LBIA just like me, but you simply cannot put off your immediate catchment population from using you and still be a successful airport that makes best use of its potential. Can you imagine how many based LS aircraft there would be at an airport that was located to not just keep its own catchment but encourage neighbouring catchments to easily get to the airport - I would suggest double what would be based at LBA next year. |
Will the Düsseldorf service be withdrawn completely or just limited to its peak which I would expect to be sort of September to January? There'll be far more money to be made flying a 738 to PMI than DUS in July

Anyone know how many new 738's still to arrive from the now 34 I believe and where they might be going. I gather a few 733 replacements with two extra for both BHX, STN and maybe another couple for LBA?

They announced that one will be going to EDI for S18.

Seljuk 22. I assume that EDI will go from 2 738 + 4 733 to 3+4, and they announced enough additional destinations/higher frequencies/longer season to justify this; but they also said that the total number of seats would rise by only 9%, which doesn't match. Maybe another poster can explain.

It seems ALC is going from 2 733 to 2 738 at the end of this month, anyone who can confirm that? Would make more sense indeed to have 738 equipment as back-up, rather than 733's.

A particular "capacity issue" put the deployment back a month. |

I'm flying on the A330 to Tenerife in June. I'm guessing the cabin is just standard AirTanker and Jet2 are not adding their red and grey seat colours, like how Thomas Cook refitted the cabin for G-VYGK.

New route from Birmingham to Bergerac. I do hope all this rapid expansion is not going to end in tears. There are only a finite number of people who wish to fly for holidays, VFR, etc. Something or somebody has got to give it is not a bottomless pit.
