Late Night Arrivals Total Disaster
Airport was a complete disaster last night... Landed around midnight, we were to park in one of the remote stands opposite the multistorey car parks/drop off zones. There was no ground staff awaiting the aircraft upon landing, and we was blocking the taxiway, as the aircraft could not park on the stand without ground crew to guide the aircraft in.
After about 15 mins it was clear we was blocking other aircraft on the taxiway, so the airport sent their own staff to guide the aircraft into the stand, once we was on stand and parked, the airport staff disappeared in their pick-up and the captain came on to say they had no ground staff available and would keep us updated. Around 1:10am, steps were finally brought up to the aircraft, but the ground crew vanished again.
The captain came on again to advise even though we had steps, the airport only had one bus operating on the airfield to take passengers to the terminal and there were three aircraft ahead of us for passengers to be taken to the terminal.
We were finally allowed off the aircraft at 1:45am, then took 50 minutes to clear border control as was a total mess too, all e-gates were closed, and queues were merging into each other as people approach border control from the old terminal gates and the newer eastern apron gates. Fortunately I had hand luggage only, but as I left the terminal at 2.40am, baggage from our aircraft had still not reached the reclaim belts.
The Captain was brilliant, walking through the aircraft keeping everyone updated. But the crew just looked totally fed-up and said this was happening on numerous occassions over the last few weeks. As the bus took us to the terminal, I counted three other aircraft with all the internal lights on and people moving around inside the aircraft with no steps, so can only assume they were in a similar situation too!
Not quite the rosie story, the airport paints about the airport all being ready for the summr rush!

Missed my last EMR train going north, and ended up only getting as far Bedford, and then a hefty taxi for the remainder of the journey.

I was starting to get excited but I can find no evidence they will run on the St Pancras to Corby line, which is the route that stops at Luton Airport Parkway.

The airport pushed for 4 trains an hour, as part of the EMR franchise agreement, but ended up with 2, which is still better than one. The whole experience now though is very disappointing compared to the old rolling stock and is a major downgrade. The airport will be able to claim a 30 minute journey time between terminal and London via the Dart so it will look good on paper but I feel EMR want to discourage airport passengers from London in using the service by providing no luggage space.

We are promised after the refurbishment they will have 2+2 abreast seating, with USB/Laptop plus and additonal luggage storage. But if and when this happens is anyones guess?!
The trains are meant to operate as two trains connected together with eight carriages, however there seems to be regular technical problems and its not an usual for a single four carriage train to be operating the route.
People should remember they are never meant to be an Airport Express service, and just an additonal option and capacitiy to get to the airport.
What makes me laugh is they specifically chose these older 360 class trains to operate the Corby to London route, as they could be upgraded to run at 110mph and operate on the fast Intercity tracks. However they can only run at 110mph north of Bedford, which has the newly upgraded electrified lines, as the older overhead cabling between London and Bedford can only handle electric trains operating to 100mph!
The new EMR Aurura trains are unlikely to operate on local services to Corby, and more for the routes to Sheffield, Nottingham and Derby. They have only ordered enough Aurora trains to replace the current EMR Meridians like for like, which currently

SAS A320 positioning from Heathrow departing as Pabely says with The Danish football team returning to Copenhagen. Are you going to lay on the tarmac Spanisheyes trying to stop it taking off?

May I suggest that that this and any subsequent flights have been authorised by higher ups (Ministry of Transport) as this competition I a major sporting event. The final is at Wembley at the end of the month and is sold out but it all depends who is in the final.
Last week there was a number of flights allowed into the early hours at Heathrow due to delays across Europe.

As the flight is being positioned from Heathrow why would the MoT permit a Luton departure and not a Heathrow departure? I doubt a bunch of women kicking a ball around would get a government department involved. Anyway this is a LLAOL rule.

There is wriggle room and while LLAOL has apologised to airport users for the disruption caused by Summer 22 restrictions they have refused to apologise to those that have their sleep distrupted every night, as that would be an admittance that they are a bad neighbour.
Double glazing has no effect when everyone has their windows open. Also airport funded double glazing only covers one room. Looking at Breachwood Green, located at the end of the runway, 95% of the homes there are not eligible anyway.

Moving next to a minor road 30 years ago doesn’t mean that person relinquishes their right to complain if that minor road becomes a motorway. To be noted that I haven’t complained. Also I didn’t know Markyate, Slip End, Harpenden, Stevenage, St Albans etc are next to an airport.

30 years ago. If we hadn't have had the oil crisis in '74 then I'm sure Court Line would have been the dominate airline at Luton and Luton might now have been significantly larger by now, so if you bought a house in the 60s fair enough but I see know excuse since then. When I bought in 90s estates agents were already warning of significant noise from planes expected.
