Excellent stats Scottie Dog.
The 10 years comparison shows well how LHR from MAN is suffering, nearly 40% decline in pax over last decade, 20% more now fly to Dubai than LHR, and CDG nearly on a par with LHR. The leakage must be alarming to BA surely ?

Surely the more direct long haul flights Manchester gets the LHR shuttle will decrease as a result ?

True indeed BHX, but it does not seem to have affected CDG and AMS, both of which have seen significant growth over the same period.

Manchester - London will have significant flows by rail and road. I suspect 90% of the MAN-LHR traffic will be connecting.

"Will they put me in a lounge for my connection from Oakland? Will they cross deck me onto a partner if they go tech? Can I upgrade reasonably often for free? I'm buying J do they have F? Do they offer all aisle seating? Do they issue a currency that gives me free flights on a large network?"
Would this be BA by any chance ?
My God good luck with that one.
Three occasions they have had my business due "bloody corporate double speak".
Canx my long haul flight at 6 hours notice.
Lost my bags on another occasion.
Lounge at Heathrow filthy.
A beacon of customer service ?

I wasn't discussing BA particularly.
Offering a view that corporate purchasing managers will buy capacity from airlines that match their overall travel requirements, not just requirements O&D from MAN.
Also that the "product" includes a global network, preferred IRROPS handling, free upgrades, bulk discounts, relaxed re-ticketing constraints etc.
It's not just about routes from this one airport, or the aircraft they fly today, or reliability from that one point in the network.
I think TCX offering J would be searching for niches that aren't so susceptible to these extra parameters that are important to the few people who purchase much of the world's premium travel.

Not all business travel is done by global companies and a lot of people in Northwest England are refusing to fly AA
and to a lesser extent UA because their product is so poor and when TCX can come up with a better price and a quality of service which is way better.
TCX now operate a number of routes which do not require hubbing in the states or via LHR/AMS/CDG, it`s like many business travellers now use Easyjet or Ryanair which even 10 years ago was hardly heard of

10 years ago Bmi had a large MAN LHR operation (mainly feeding Star ex LHR) - the better comparison would be BA 2007 and 2017 I think. As a regular on the route it feels pretty much the same to me.

Aw, shucks!
RYANAIR CANCELS PLANNED UKRAINE SERVICES AS KIEV AIRPORT FAILS TO HONOUR COMMITMENTS
Ryanair, Europe's No.1 airline, today (10 July) announced that it has cancelled its planned entry into Ukraine following Kiev airport's failure to honour a growth agreement reached at the Ministry of Infrastructure with airport officials and the current Airport Director General, Mr Riabikin, in March of this year.
Regrettably, Kiev airport has instead chosen to protect high fare airlines (including Ukraine International Airlines) and deprive Ukrainian consumers/visitors access to Europe's lowest air fares and widest route network. As a result, Ryanair has no choice but to cancel 4 new Kiev routes and 7 new Lviv routes, which will result in the loss of over 500,000 passengers and 400 jobs.
Ryanair sincerely apologises to the many customers who have booked low fare flights to/from the Ukraine, all of whom will be contacted by email and refunded for their cancelled flights.

MAN-Kiev no longer showing in Ryanair system. Flight pulled? didn't last long....
There are two sides to every story of course and we've only heard one side no doubt nicely spun as is their way.
Wonder if heads will roll amongst those in Ukraine who agreed the deal in the first place assuming there is some truth in this?

MAG press release...
Manchester Airport has seen a record 27 million people pass through its three terminals in the last 12 months.
The UK’s third largest airport passed the milestone for the first time in its 79 year history. More than 2.75m passengers flew in and out of the airport in June – an increase of 9% on June 2016.
June saw the one year anniversary of the Hainan Airlines service to Beijing and it also saw Cathay Pacific increase its flights to Hong Kong to five per week.
Over the last year the UK’s third largest airport added a wealth of new routes, which helped reach the 27m passenger milestone. These include: Muscat (Oman Air), San Francisco (Thomas Cook Airlines and Virgin Atlantic), Boston (Virgin Atlantic and Thomas Cook Airlines), Los Angeles (Thomas Cook Airlines), Houston (Singapore Airlines), Riyadh (Saudia), Beijing (Hainan Airlines), Nuremberg (Ryanair), Casablanca (Royal Air Maroc) and Tobago (Thomas Cook Airlines).
Collette Roche, Acting Managing Director for Manchester Airport, said: “Passing 27 million passengers is another significant milestone for the airport.
“The last 12 months has seen a host of new long haul routes and as we move into the busy summer season we’re looking forward to welcoming even more passengers through our terminals.
“Our continued growth of passengers and destinations clearly highlights the role we play in UK aviation and as the global entry and exit point of the Northern Powerhouse. This is further reinforced by the strong financial results issued today by MAG.”
Due to the extra demand aircraft movements were also up in the last 12 months by 11%, meaning more than 200,000 planes took off and landed on the airport’s two full length runways.
Cargo also saw a boost with 10,952 tonnes carried - an increase of 7% on June 2016. It equates to a 12% year on year increase with the annual rolling tonnage now at 118,849.
The 27m passenger milestone has been met as MAG releases its 2016/17 financial results, which sees the UK’s largest airport group deliver a sixth consecutive year of growth. The last financial year saw Manchester Airport enter the European top 20 busiest airports, bolstering its position as the UK’s global gateway to and from the North. For the 12 months ending 31st March 2017 MAG saw growth across all of its airports with total passenger numbers for the year up to 55.9m, an increase of 7.7%.

Barra and back for today's MT2824 (MAN-LAX). G-CHTZ with possible pressurisation issues or wanting a better view of Lakes? Dropped to FL130 for return.
This is what I was saying about TCX reliability.
