Looks like MAG want this to go via STN not MAN
Kuwait Airways on Wednesday (22MAR17) adjusted planned intermedia stop for Westbound Kuwait City – New York JFK route, which will be in effect from 21APR17. From this date, the 777-300ER will operate via London Stansted, replacing current stop in Shannon.
As a result of the intermediate stop changes, operational schedule will be slightly modified.
KU117 KWI0900 – 1400STN1630 – 1945JFK 77W D
KU118 JFK2145 – 1655+1KWI 77W
The airline does not have local traffic rights for London Stansted – New York JFK sector.

With no pax rights it makes no difference where it stops I suppose. With MAN's upcoming "transformation" it probably is best for MAG that it goes through STN, all the same pot.

Ku wait a little longer?
So MAG have finally made into the Big League as it would appear that they are encouraging traffic NOT to use Manchester, as do LHR at all times and LGW at peak times?
I'm afraid this sorry state of affairs is being brought about by their inability to plan adequately, in the years gone by since R2 opened, to develop any aspect of the Airport infrastructure, apart from Car Parking and the Metro-link? Now it's too little too late.
Yep, that sounds about right !
Harrumphhh!

As you maybe aware there are large taxiway works going on at present and then a little terminal
construction job and of course who owns Stansted so I really cannot see the problem

Dearest chaps 1954 of course I'm aware of the taxiway work being undertaken, but after all it is only Repairs that are being carried out just as in previous years, so no growing of the infrastructure there then. I did of course Fail to mention one piece of infrastructure that has been done since R2 and that is the new Control Tower. Although it's good to see it, it was after all only replacing one that existed before and was not in addition to.
As for the Terminal development, as I say Too little and Too late. At peak times terminal is running at capacity and then some, I've experienced it ! More like being at a Musical chairs event when trying to find somewhere to wait and no, not many truly International airports are like that.
'Twud appear also that dear old Terminal 1 is not going to be leveled after all, but twiddled with. What an enthralling experience that will be when completed. Into the same dull, very very dull crowded multi-storey car park drop-off area, or through claustrophobic security hall (Jet 2), up stairs, down stairs.
Yes a truly great experience.
However getting back to Kuwait, if the Pax are let off the aircraft, isn't there a Retail opportunity available in which to make some dosh? I could be wrong however, and they may only be let -off to clear security again. Anyone clarify how these sort of transits work?
I really do hope that my pessimism is misplaced.
With kind regards to all,
Mr Grumpy.

OK, so when is this work on Terminal 2 due to commence, seems a lot of talk and no action since the announcement in 2015?

The work on T2 has started already.
Ground works have begin with large scale vegetation removal around T2, utilities are being put in as we speak, with sections of staff west being dug up to fit them in.
Parts of staff west and T2 long stay will start to close off next month along with 'area 7' next to T2, so that more large scale works can begin.

Adola, dosh is being made by MAG from KU, in a location that best suits them...just so happens that is STN, but may aswell be MAN as they revenue goes in the same pot. From a business point of view it makes sense, spotters wont be too happy though !

MAN-USA taking a right battering next winter.
VS will take the DL JFK route on over the winter too, but, the aircraft is shared with ATL which means both routes operate either 3/4 weekly, obviously one route operates 3 weekly while the other operates 4 weekly an VV, it alternates each month.
That's gunna hurt, badly!

That certainly is gunna hurt LAX ! Especially among business travellers, who may turn to the daily hub offerings of BA/EI etc.
UA won't be too unhappy either - assuming of course they remain daily on EWR for the winter.

Ouch!, so on some winter days we may not have a single flight to JFK. When was the last time that happened - 1980s? Then you look at how much choice and capacity there is now going East from MAN (most of which is not seasonal) the imbalance is starting to look crazy.

It's been a long time since ATL frequency so low, and as said, the first time in a long time we have days of just 1 flight to the New York area!
To think we have more frequency to Houston than JFK this winter! Bonkers.

The disparity between east and west seems to be growing, as Roverman notes, it is particularly large in the winter months with seasonal reductions on US routes.
I thought VS had a decent chance to make JFK daily work, but if the above comes to pass now is obviously not the time.
What price for another SQ51 style transit flight...

Add to the fact almost every route out of ORD on AA is going B788 except MAN +1 too. Perhaps Virgin see MAN more leisure focussed and seasonal than Delta? Perhaps that was the rationale?

Any of the ME3 could use a MAN transit flight to sidestep the Trump restriction on laptops, but at the cost of adding 2-3 hours journey time from their hub to JFK. Would their ME to JFK business pax wear a 2-3 longer journey just to be reunited with their laptops during the flight ? And do the ME3 have the traffic rights UK-USA anyway ?
TK or one of the other ME carriers ? But they are all subject to the UK ban on laptops as well as USA, so no real advantage for them adding a UK transit.
Perhaps TCX might be encouraged to offer a bit more JFK frequency in the winter months but I doubt would be anywhere near daily, which keeps them firmly in the "leisure" bracket.
Agree with Skip - perhaps an opportunity for Norwegian and their smaller capacity MAXs to take another look at MAN ?
