Turin- re SIA
Given the amount of people travelling from MAN to Australasia & Asia, SIA should be doing better( in terms of load).
I had a minor ground handling issue with them and was met with complete intransigence.
Hence they are on my no fly list, losing many thousands of £ of my business.
As a frequent Asia traveller (business class)I'm sold on the ME3 or CX when the schedule fits.I could at times use Hanain if it was to Shanghai and not Beijing.
I also had minor ground issue with CX & they couldn't do enough to rectify and quickly too.
It's all about personal perception & experience.
But yes SIA could do better IMHO.
A test of any company is how they handle things when they go wrong.
(my no fly list consists of SIA, easyjet & Germanwings/ eurowings- but people should make their own minds up based on their own experiences)

Please can anyone tell me which is the busiest day for pax arrivals at Manchester Airport, especially terminal 3 during the Easter Period. I know changes of some school holidays ending the day after Easter Monday may effect this.

We have a free days worth of advertising and want to make the biggest impact possible pax numbers wise in Spring.

Did anyone see the Alcoholics Anonymous campaign at the exit of each arrival terminal at Manchester during January or maybe you noticed the billboard next to the terminal at Liverpool that is still on going? Please see the links at the bottom of this post.

Any feedback or suggestions on our campaign would be welcomed from those working in Aviation and from pax too. Feel free to PM me if you would rather use that method.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions on busiest arrivals days at Easter and feedback on our campaign.

Why are banned people allowed back on the site with new names? I don't get it. The owners and majority of users of the site don't want to read their tedious repeating comments. Yet they keep coming back posting the same old ****
Pots and kettles, Turtle controller. Good name by the way, very descriptive.

You can run but you cannot hide, Turtle controller, here's something you posted on another forum a while back:

"23 - by turtlecontroller November 18, 2014

Pprune thread was a joke. It's relevance to MAN was dubious. It was hijacked by bagso who has no unique news or info to bring to the debate just a morbid fascination with minute detail and his personal obsession with marketing. It was largely irrelevant, extremely repetitive and frankly boring. The "sticky" section on the thread contains an excellent post by the owner that clearly sets out terms of use etc. I am surprised they tolerated it as long as they did. Lengthy bans should be in place for the worst offenders ( bagso, shed and fair deal frank). I pray they don't bring their drivel across here.

Btw sirhumphreynorth sounds a lot like bagso.....
I was going to post similar earlier this morning, but decided against it. I suppose we can now look forward to pages of rants about how hard done to the Northwest, and Greater Manchester in particular is...until Sir Humphrey is retired and takes his "civil service pension".

Still I suppose "Bernard" will be waiting in the wings!
Thought the same, and maybe, just maybe, Shed is around somewhere.

Welcome back Bagso and Shed!!

I recognise that I may be slated for my comments but I fully endorse observations about the continuing dialogue over HS2 and other issues not being appropriate to PPRuNe. I accept the right to freedom of speech but this is an AVIATION forum so if those wishing to discuss trains then
perhaps they could go elsewhere. Therefore so that they are not inhibited maybe they can try UK Railway Discussion - RailUK Forums
At the risk of getting slated as well, would say that some sort of fast intercity link (the so-called HS3) and a Manchester Crossrail between Liverpool-Manchester-Leeds-Sheffield and RINGWAY (relevance: surface access) is essential in the northern powerhouse and as soon as. Don't want it becoming a Heathrow-type saga of dithering, procrastination and delay, and eventual inaction.

On the other hand, HS2 is a vanity project and an irrelevance. It will suck even more economic activity towards the south east and therefore offers nothing positive to the north west.

I'm sure WW is a shrewd man, but some of his comments don't make sense to me.
BA did react to loco and set up a perfectly good operation with GO based at STN, which could have expanded into LHR & LGW. Instead chose to sell.
The mistake was setting it up at STN as a stand-alone.

It should have been an operation with bases at LHR (and maybe LGW), BHX, GLA, and MAN under similar arrangements to the AF, IB and LH equivelants.

Hindsight is wonderful isn't it, forgive the armchair CEO mode.

I'm relieved the CX spokesperson Mr Paul Loo stopped short of being flushed with the success of the various routes
Not getting bogged down with karsi humour, good to see it.

It would be nice to think he was referring to new routes not yet announced, but I suspect it was to MAN's success in securing new international routes we know about. Pity, if so.

I know we sometimes have a whinge at MAN about lifts and escalators not working and express disappointment when expected or hoped for new routes don't materialise, but I have to say the departure board in T2 this morning looked pretty impressive with these 6 flights showing one after the other:
10.10 SQ to IAH
10.15 SV to JED
10.20 VS to ATL
11.00 HU to PEK
11.10 SQ to SIN
11.55 CX to HKG

roverman's post a couple of pages back was a wonderful analogy of the challenges MAN faces going west in the present climate, but with growth from SV & CX to come later this year and Oman starting in May, developments going east should help to counteract any set backs should they occur as far as transatlantic traffic is concerned.

I hesitated about Hainan because I wasn't sure what had actually been confirmed and was bookable. There may be an extra flight but discussion elsewhere indicated that even if there is, it isn't clear whether it's temporary or permanent.

The Hainan is in GDS and Hainan timetable. Also bookable on some sites like Skyscanner but not the HU website.

Also some potential new KU flights from the end of the month.

KU117 arrives from KWI 1315 departs to JFK 1525 B77W daily from 26th March T2 allocated but not confirmed yet. Would not be picking up or dropping off pax so will not show on any booking sites and flies direct JFK-KWI on return.

Will only happen if KU are still prevented from flying direct still by the USA but they are hoping for direct flights.

The Hainan flight often arrives at an ungodly early time, occasionally as early as 4am but regularly 4.30.

Tranferring passengers have to change terminals and then wait for transfers to open at 6am. There are only usually around 12/15 transfer PAX's per flight and most of them transfer around the UK.

It's got to be a bit of a put off for some PAX's following such a long flight. Perhaps something Hainan might look at in the future.

KU currently routes via Shannon. They want to move it to the UK. No slots available at LHR/LGW, no transit facility at STN, so MAN gets it.

A bit more news regarding Hainan.

Quote.
All-in-all, the products offered by Hainan Airlines definitely have the hallmarks and prerequisites of being a five-star carrier. Their business class cabin will definitely give global competitors a run for their money. Such hallmarks have generated a success at Manchester alone. Having a catchment area to 22 million people, with a reasonable percentage of that being Chinese residents, Hainan has witnessed quick success in the first six months of operation within the market. For instance, from the start of operations in June 2016 up to October 2016, Hainan has carried 38,000 passengers between Manchester and Beijing with an average load factor of 92%.

The airline’s Deputy General Manager of the UK Ryan Zhang mentioned to the press that extra services from Manchester could occur in the future if the trend continues. He mentioned that the airline is potentially open to adding routes to Shanghai and Guangzhou. However, Hainan may face competition over the next few years as Air China might make a move on the slots that have acquired from Manchester Airports Group. Hainan, however, could be eyeing Heathrow in the future following British Airways’ withdrawal from Chengdu.

The ever reliable AlphaFive facebook page also has the info re Kuwait but also says SQ reverting back to B77W.

SQ booking engine still shows A359.

The SQ info was a mistake as Chroma showed going back to the B777 as an error, it will remain A350 (for now).

Lax Lhr
Hope it does not go back to 777 as the last time I used their service going East on a 777 ex Man it was how shall we say - a little worn out and not really up to the standard I expect from SQ. Now using them going west and AB is fine and dandy.

Mr Mac

Some extra Easyjet flights added from July.

Not 100% if they are increases compared to last year, but I'm sure someone will correct.

Alicante: 7>9 weekly
Antalya: 1>2 weekly
Catania: 3>4 weekly
Corfu: 4>5 weekly
Gibraltar: 2>3 weekly
Dalaman: 3>5 weekly
Olbia: 2>3 weekly
Split: 2>3 weekly

Every little helps
