In the past year, increased revenue per passenger by 8.5% to £20.80.
Not much of that revenue will have come from actual passengers but from other revenue streams from airport tenant and such like.

As such the lower the passenger count the higher the income per passenger so if passenger numbers do drop Stobart will make a song and dance about the increase in revenue per passenger next year.

Which ever way you count it, looks like it will take a long time to pay back that £100m.

They will eventually sell the business off as it is not part of their core business. My guess is that it will happen in the next 3 years.

I thought the airports where very much at the core of the business since they split from the haulage side.

In any case, how do they get the £100m back?

By finding a company that has vision and a track record of running successful airports and has £100,000,001 so Sobart can say they sold the airport for a profit. They certainly can't run an airline as far as Southend is concerned.

Flybe Winter Timetable

Commencing end of October the Winter 2015/16 timetable shows RNS and FMO operating daily, GRQ operating daily except Saturday and CFR becoming twice weekly, Friday and Sunday.

Presumably Stobart feel that all four routes continue to have potential, with CFR being seen as just a weekend-break destination in the winter.

This is excellent news, well done BE for continuing to operate the routes Still a shame about Dublin though. The interesting thing is, once BE cease their LCY-DUB service at the end of the month both EIR (Stobart) and BE will no longer operate ANY LON-DUB routes, leaving just FR, EI and BA.

I don't understand why existing routes are showing these large drops in passenger numbers. Does anyone have an answer

I've flown to Southend a few times it launched the new terminal. It is a great little airport, and is very quick and easy, and as convenient as most other London airports, with respect to time to travel to London. Though I sense that the numbers it is seeing is mainly local catchment area passengers.

The numbers paint a sad story about the airport, and in this early stage the airport should still be growing.....

They need a hero ....

I didn't grasp the fact that easyjet had cut back their operation out of Southend. Are they one aircraft down this year?

Also noticed that while passengers are down 25.7% for April ATM's are down 15.5%. I would have thought most of those missing ATM's are due to Stobart Air cutbacks but it would appear that there are more seats empty this April than last April due to the greater passenger reduction.

Hopefully this year will be a turning point as Southend picks up new airlines.

Noticed on the Southend board that BA4450 is due in at 07:15 and BA8450 is due in at 7:20. Also at least one CityJet has landed at Southend. BE is only showing just one flight today so there is plenty of slack in their Southend operation

Last summer easyJet had four SEN-based aircraft as opposed to only three this year resulting in a reduction from around 90 rotations weekly to around 65 now. This means that AMS has been reduced to twice daily despite the fact that the route has proven itself to be able to support a three daily service. BCN has also been greatly reduced from nine weekly to just four weekly this summer. Flights to GVA and KRK have also been dropped for 2015. Add to that the fact that, in my opinion, Stobart shot themselves in the foot by throwing away the DUB route it is no surprise that there has been a drop of 25% in passenger numbers and a 15% reduction in ATMs in April 2015.

I don't think load factors have been lower this April, although Easter always tends to make it difficult to calculate this accurately.

The LCY diversions this morning, and there seem to be a considerable number, is due to a "runway defect" at LCY.

Perhaps someone can correct me if false, but the Stobart/Skywork routes seem to have shown good improvement from my calculations, with the following average loads:

Bern - 15.6 (9x weekly)
Caen - 40.7 (3x weekly)
Groningen - 34.6 (6x weekly)
Munster - 30.7 (5x weekly)
Rennes - 44.2 (7x weekly)

Still some way to go but at least they seem to being given time to develop.

When I looked at the SEN arrival and departure board for today it showed only one BE flight (excluding diversions) Is Tuesday just a quiet day or was it a mistake?
