Seems that Carlisle, if it happens is still a long way off.

Sea Air
Well another start-up airline/virtual airline due to launch flights to SEN! I believe they originally chose STN. Also in direct competition with FR at STN so needs to be attractively priced.
Effective from 24 March 2016, 2x weekly OSI-SEN (Thurs, Sun)
16:30 OSI - 17:55 SEN 2h25
19:00 SEN - 22:25 OSI 2h25
As always, i'll believe it when I see it, however this one has a free one-way train ticket thrown in which I believe is a SEN marketing tool. Perhaps this does have some legs behind it. However, they have a had failed launches before I believe, which makes me rather skeptical.

A few months ago, the Sea Air website was showing a route out of Stansted rather than Osijek, while the published schedules bore little resemblance to likely flying times. Definitely one to wait until the first flight lands in the UK before pulling out a credit card.

Osijek isn't exactly a major destination for UK travellers, so hopefully any traffic will be inbound to the UK from eastern Croatia. With an annual passenger total of 26,000 Osijek Airport shouldn't be too busy........

And FR have just announced that OSI will go year-round to STN. I believe they operate 2x weekly as well on Friday and Mondays. Not going to be easy me thinks...

SEN aren't going to turn away the potential business, but the giveaway as to whether they see this operation as credible will come in the next few days with their marketing efforts. Will it be all guns blazing (Adria, Skywork) or not a word (OLT)?
I suspect the latter.
I also wonder if the high ticket prices reflect them seeing this market, particularly in the early days, as being one way (from Croatia).

OSI Flights
Have just checked their website and it seems their fleet consists of Boeing 737-300 and EMB 145, and EMB 190. Let's hope it actually happens. Only a couple of flights a week but, as is said, every little helps!

The Evening Echo has an article, no doubt culled from these pages, on the new services. As expected the airport management is, wisely, being non-committal:
However, the airport’s chief executive Glyn Jones said discussions were still on going with the airlines and no routes had been confirmed. He said: "We are talking to a number of airlines about the possibility of commencing services to and from London Southend Airport - however it would be inappropriate to comment on these talks whilst our discussions with them are still underway.
“Once we have any announcements to make on new routes from London Southend Airport, we'll let you know right away."
Sounds like the same old same old, but maybe this time Glyn Jones really is getting close to some announcement on services (hopefully rather more substantial than a twice-weekly flight to an obscure part of Croatia.....).

Certainly hope there are other airlines out there who are seriously interested in operating from SEN. I've lost count how many start-ups have chosen SEN, and then never operated. It certainly won't do SEN's reputation any good. We need more established airlines who can deliver high growth over the coming years.

No most certainly not the rumour that I was referring to a couple of weeks ago.
I really cannot the Sea Air service even being launched and whichever LON airport they chose to operate from I would say it has the same minimal prospect of success.
