Tel Aviv an interesting one in the current climate. Presumably Israeli tour based aimed more at inbound than 2 way. There used to be charters to Tel Aviv from Scotland in the early 80's. Monarch I think. Will watch this with interest.

Anyone know why Bergerac Newquay Knock and Bergen seem to have disappeared from the Flybe timetable for EDI? The first three are still on the EDI website timetable, though.

January passenger figures show continued international growth | Edinburgh Airport
EDI have finally got round to posting their own press release on their own site!
I read on another thread that FR are launching Valencia, I think from W17

I'm slightly surprised at Wroclaw because it is already served from GLA. I would have thought that a greater frequency from one airport would be better than a low frequency from two. It will be interesting to see which does best.

Today by the looks of things - its on the Ryanair thread and also on the WRO website: http://airport.wroclaw.pl/en/2017/02...172018-season/
Valencia and Wroclaw are both served from GLA already.

Four further "long haul operations" for 2017/18
The minutes of the Edinburgh Airport Consultative Committee meeting on 07/11/2016 have been released today on the Edinburgh Airport website. They reference a further four "long haul operations" being looked at by the airport for the next year ahead.
Presumably this references the upcoming proposed Norwegian transatlantic services, but I wonder what else might be in the pipeline? Direct China services at long last, perhaps?

Being looked at means nothing, genuinely. Fluff at this point. They REALLY need a building fit for purpose and an apron to match before adding even more long haul.

IMHO these are long haul routes that are in the pipeline rather than just desired routes otherwise they wouldnt have been mentioned at the meeting. Norwegian will be part of the story and we know a Chinese link has been a priority for some time.

Perhaps it's to do with any future Chinese investment within Scotland plus the huge amount of inbound tourism from China
Just a few obvious reasons for some to have an obsession with an Edinburgh to China link adding to the airports existing long haul transatlantic and middle eastern routes!
It's the obsession with Norwegian that I find annoying not just on here but over at A.net.

I wouldn't call it an obsession. We know a china link is something they are actively targeting given edinburgh and scotlands popularity with Chinese tourists. It will happen and relatively soon I'd wager.
People are interested in Norwegian because it is something relatively new - low cost flights to direct to the US from UK airports. I think people are intrigued about how it's going to work more than anything else.

Does anyone actually have O and D figures showing what traffic actually exists between China and EDI (or all of Scotland) via all the various routings possible (Gulf, London, AMS etc etc) plus how much of that traffic is European multi centre (so wouldn't benefit from a direct Scottish link) plus how many various Chinese cities this traffic originates from. If you have, please post it and we can all then see how realistic a Chinese link is.
