If that's off-peak, I hate to think what it's like when it's really busy!
The bus station photo was taken at 10:36 this morning well after the end of the morning rush. The two bus bays this side of the closest National Express coach have been turned into 2 temporary holding pens for passengers waiting for the next National Express coach to London so to keep them away from the rest of the bus station. Both the pens were full and are usually full most of the time. I hate to think what it is like 2 hours earlier or later in the day when numbers peak.

I always thought from previous pictures of the development that the Pier Link would butt up against the undercroft wall(right hand side of your photo) and would be over the delivery/access road.
Do you know if they still intend to have this undercroft access in the future because i can't see on the road layout how they will gain access?.
I also thought it would butt up against the undercroft wall. The plans shows no service road being kept as there is two more bus bays to go in and a taxi rank BUT on the new section of ring road that has been put in next to the new drop off zone a permanent sign that has been put up and temporarily covered says Goods Deliver Zone 2. So it might be the case that a service road will sit between the pier and the drop off zone and run the full length of the pier before it uses the existing undercroft.

Thanks , that's interesting as we all assumed a while back the only delivery area would be on the opposite side next to H89 (perhaps that will be delivery zone 1)
Maybe the onward travel won't be in that area either!.
I guess that underground access is too vital to the airports operation.

The Onward Travel Center is meant to be attached to the link building but seeing that arrivals is at the other end of the terminal it never stuck me as being in the right location.

Who is the Croatian Fokker 100 operating on behalf of. I have seen it in a couple of times in the last week or so. Or is it just random charters. Forgotten the airline name but it was Croatian, Nice livery.

Luton Experience

Drop of zone hectic but tolerable

Overall not too bad. Quick check in - EasyJet plus though. Security quick and efficient and friendly- guy even pointed fluff attached to shoulder. Much better than Glasgow- unfriendly there and insisted on removal of 50 ml sun cream and iPAD which LTN didn't. - why is the UK non-standard on this. Able to buy Joe Malone perfume for daughter in much improved duty free shop. Pret a Manger still there with apron view ( will this be retained?) Crowded bus to remote stand but no worse then Terminal 5.

Inbound - domestic so no Border Experience. Otherwise all okay again pick up busy but tolerable driver arrived quickly after call. Overall experience ruined by one hour baggage return wait with no one answering the handlers number in the hall- eventually blamed on belt failure. Will this get better?

Been quite a few interesting airliner movements over the last few weeks then.

Multiple AN12's, Danish metroliner, Carpat air & Trade air with FK100.. Bulgaria Air 737, Azerbaijani 787, Airbus etc.. Bulgarian MD80 yesterday.

Those chaps up the crash gate must be loving it.

Luton Council's impeccable timing.

Beware, airport roadworks start - Luton Today

I can well remember the massive tailbacks in both directions the last time the A1081 to and from the the M1 had lane closures and that was well before the issues with the CTA both this year and last year.

Every time I go through Luton airport I feel I'm being punished for something really bad I must have done in a former life.

A bit too successful seeing they don't have the infrastructure built yet.

The brand new 12 carriage Class 700 Thameslink trains that should help transform the journey to London have now entered service. Once inside the train there are no doors between the carriages.

Surely that's an old image as it clearly shows no redevelopment in the CTA!

redevelopment update

The entrance to Signature is taking shape

Another part of Signatures new apron recently opened.

With the mid term car park bus traveling up the new link road to the fire station work has started on removing the embankment by the tunnel for the new duel carriageway.

The new drop off area that was being used as part of the short term car park has been closed as work has stated this week to extend the drop off area into the former disabled parking area. In the background is the existing drop off area where part of it will be incorporated into the new scheme.

kerb stones have been laid from the new pay barriers to just past the passenger foot bridge.
