November passenger stats:
845,141, up 23.7% (month)
12,125,267 up 16.4% (rolling year)
Air Transport Movements:
6,499, up 24.3% (month)
86,498 up 15.2% (rolling year)
Still no info on La Compagnie pax.
And just this week news of the arrival of two major European airline groups - Air France/KLM with Transavia and IAG with Vueling. It looks as though AENA's contacts book has been in use.
According to my calculations, there will be 15 airlines operating regular passenger services next summer (EasyJet, Wizzair, Monarch, Ryanair, Thomson, VLM, Blue Air, Sun Express, Air Nostrum, Tarom, El Al, La Compagnie, AtlasGlobal, Transavia and Vueling).
I can already hear LTNman getting uncomfortable about the pressure on the changing infrastructure.

I have got to a point either through old age or sitting here in front of a PC while drinking Abbot Ale, which has left me typing this a little half cut, where I can no longer take in what is happening to Luton.
Tranavia taking on Easyjet to Paris when they could have walked into Stansted with no competition and now Vueling taking on Easyjet with flights to Amsterdam and Barcelona. Has the airline world gone mad?
There is a touch of Déjà vu here. Before Luton's new terminal opened, which is not so new now, there was a spurt of new routes with the old terminal heaving before the pressure was taken off with the opening of the new terminal.
It seems that the same is happening now with AENA expanding the business in readiness for the 18 million passenger capacity Luton that will start to come on stream from the end of next year.
I can still remember the days when the last departure was around 3pm in the winter. Who could foresee how Luton would grow in the last 20 years?

It has to be a possibility that Ryanair will add to its Luton fleet.

Vueling - Tranavia vs Easyjet - Ryanair
I think this show no-one wants to compete at STN but are willing to at LTN, more to come I think. Will it be a bloodbath like CPH? Next.....

So in the space of a week Luton gains a Transavia arrival at 07:15 and a departure at 08:00 and now a Vueling arrival at 7:05 and departure at 7:45.
For the first time on the OCS website there are now no slots available for arrivals or departures between 07:00 and 08:00 Monday to Thursday with just 1 slot left on Fridays in July.
I am thinking that Farnborough will be picking up some business from Luton next summer for those Biz jets that get turned away.

Vueling
Wow, like with Transavia, I don't think anyone saw Vueling coming, taking on easyJet at their home base on two of their most popular European routes is high stakes stuff.
Great to have competition and will be interesting to see how they do. Their flight times offer something a bit different with the first arrival each day from each city and the last departure from Luton.
I wonder, if easyJet will react to these new routes and increase frequency themselves?

OCS Summer 2016 Slot allocation
Seems full from 07:30 until 07:45 but capacity outside. I doubt any VVIP trade will suffer in reality. S17 may be an issue with they way things are going.

Not sure what date pabely is looking at but when I breakdown the times for the week starting July 24th into 5 minute segments it looks like this. Also noted that on Tuesday and Thursday for some reason there are no slots available from 6:45. Also quite alot of segments showing in yellow which means just one slot left.
Also the fact that there are no slots available at Stansted might explain why these two airlines came to Luton and took the last two slots here particularly Transavia when there was no competition at Stansted on the Paris service.

In my home patch I could see three major cities in Spain which have no link to Luton, firstly Valencia the third largest city (only ever served by inclusive tours), secondly Seville which I am right in thinking has never been linked to Luton and thirdly - many might think what - Zaragoza in the north east. It has large industrial base - cars manufacturing etc and is close to the Pyrenees for skiing and hill walking. It was served many years ago by Britannia Airways as a winter ski destination. Over to you Vueling, Ryanair, easyJet and Volotea.

Do you think this influx of new operations has anything to do with the governments failure to decide on Heathrow and airlines realizing they are going to have to diversify and get creative.
Luton is very well placed with a Large catchment area that spans multiple counties. It can serve London just as much as it can serve people near the Midlands. Throw in all the shires in between and the growing population in these areas. Airlines probably feel they need to get operations moving immediately in an airport with a possibility to expand in the future.
Ryanair destroys anyone in STN, LHR is full and LGW is filling. I think both of those will be jam packed with nothing much but Long Haul 5 years from now and LTN will have picked up even more random european carriers. Infact I can even see long haul connections a good few years in the future with the likes of the A321LR if LHR isn't sorted. I don't think that is getting carried away either.

Weekly redevelopment update
Signature's new FBO is now taking shape.
The shuttle bus bay to the station is now getting railings so is looking close to opening.
The 2 bays built over the existing pavement of the old bus station are now complete making 11 in total that are finished.
The foundations of the passenger bridge between the short term car park and the multistory car park have been laid this week.
The mid term car park extension is getting the same rubbish gravel and cinders finish for the parking bays as the rest of that car park. That whole car park is a disgrace so it is clear it isn't going to be upgraded like the short term car park.
The photo shows a better section of the existing surface of the car park and the new surface that will soon look like the old surface after a year or two.

Should just use the 757's they already have or buy some more? Might workout better.
Interesting photos LTNman. I havent been to the airport in a good few months but think I might walk around with a camera in January. Alot of changes.
Is the space between the Gulfstream & Thomson hangars going to be built on or remain as parking?

The old hangar was removed to make way for a new apron for Signature.
I think the airport contractors take a 2 week break at Christmas so I am not expecting much to happen next week. Even this week workers seemed a bit thin on the ground.
I forgot to add that the old staff car park, which will be part of the short term car park, has been marked up with parking bays. Also the new ring road has now got signage.
