If you look at the figures in the link they are only scheduling 62 in 2 hours (an average of 31) but 34 in the first hour and 28 in the second hour. So it appears they are over scheduling one hour and that 3 aircraft from that first hour will not get away and incur delay (but only of up to 6 minutes), then under scheduling the next hour so that the schedule as a whole gets back on track by the end of the second hour.
I can't decide if this is rather dumb or very clever..!!
34 is therefore seems to be a false number for runway capacity but a valid one for scheduling.

Iberia Express
If this is true, and it would not surprise me with links to LTN airport operator, EZY have really been sleeply defending there own back yards at LGW and now LTN.

Aircraft can often sit at the end of the runway at Luton waiting for clearance to take off due to congestion in the airspace above the airport for what seems like minutes but probably isn't. Don't seem to have that problems at some other bigger London airports.
Wonder if AENA would give some sort of Spanish airport discount for flying to Luton as an incentive to fly to their UK airport rather than say Stansted or Gatwick.
There is now so much going on with Luton both with new routes and airlines and physically with the building work which is taking place all over the airport that it is hard to keep up with what is happening.
Iberia Express next?

Summer 2016
I've been reading the posts about new Summer 2016 services by Vueling and Transavia and runway capacity with interest. Looking at airline websites I've found the morning movements on Monday 20th June 2016 as follows:
05.00 - 05.59 2 (2 dep)
06.00 - 06.59 17 (15 dep, 2 arr)
07.00 - 07.59 31 (20 dep, 11 arr)
08.00 - 08.59 26 (15 dep, 11 arr)
Looking at the schedules, I see 33 aircraft on the ground overnight at Luton - easyJet 19, Ryanair 5, Monarch 4, Thomson 3, Wizzair 2.
Out of interest, I make 322 total movements - easyJet 130, Wizzair 94, Ryanair 36, Monarch 18, Thomson 10, Blue Air 10, Vueling 8, VLM 4, El Al
4, Transavia 4, Atlas 2 and La Compagnie 2.
It's certainly going to be a busy summer!
Here's the complete list up until 08.59:

So was this extra Rynair frame already known to this thread in the past and I just forgot about it? I take it that this is one up from last year?

Wonder if the old staff car park will open as part of the short term car park before Christmas to help with the car parks limited existing capacity? It is essentially finished but the new ring road needs to be opened and a fence needs to be taken down to join up the two areas plus a few other finishing touches that could wait. Also some signage needs to be covered up as the new signage is pointing to the final solution.

Good stuff ClearLand but Monarch will have four based aircraft at Luton.I have not heard anything of a fifth Ryanair based aircraft but looks very likely there will be.

Luton life was so much easier to work out a few years ago. Now it is looking like Ryanair could have sneaked an extra based aircraft into Luton and no one has spotted it before. Also their Copenhagen route is like having a sixth based aircraft as I think there is maybe 4 round trips a day next summer. Of course I could be wrong as there was less to remember once.

I agree with LTNman it's definitely getting more complicated to work out what's going on. I guess the other consideration is that not all the routes are daily. Taking Ryanair, for example, 4 of the 5 early departures are daily (with one or two exceptions), however the 5th aircraft has to cover the following schedule:
- Mon & Fri 06.30 dep. to Las Palmas
- Wed & Sun 06.30 dep. to Arrecife
- Tue & Sat 06.55 dep. to Fuerteventura
- Thu 06.55 dep. to Malta
Presumably Ryanair needs to reserve 2 slots to make this work - both the 06.30 and the 06.55 ?

Ryanair made this statement on September 2nd with no mention of a 5th based aircraft. As Ryanair like to blow their own trumpet I find this 5th aircraft a little strange seeing that they still have 18 routes.
London Luton:
4 based aircraft
1 new route to Vilnius
18 routes in total
Extra flights to Copenhagen (4 x daily)
123 weekly flights (13% growth)
1.8m customers p.a.
1,350* “on-site” jobs p.a.
