Whatever else happens at the airport, they really need to sort out taxiway A and the exits.
Both the 08 and 26 end will get an extended taxiway but not quite to the ends of the runway

First time for a number of years that there are no passenger flights on Christmas Day.

The airport is closed at the moment. Not sure when it re-opens.

My concerns are for passengers using the airport today that could not use the First Capital Connect train services-as literally there are none!

Prior to FCC we had Thameslink who operated train services on Boxing Day.

I hope LLA will insist on any new train company winning the thameslink route network will re-instate Boxing day services.

It seems ridiculous to offer cheap flights on one hand and then leave passengers having to rely on expensive onward travel on the other hand which I estimate might cost up to £120 for a taxi ride from Luton Airport to London on Boxing Day?

Southend has this problem everyday of the year for their early morning departures and late night arrivals.

Luton did have a coach service today to and from London.

Cool Carpatair

Flights in Jan/February/March are now weekly instead of twice weekly.
Flights are now Sunday morning arrivals at 0820am
Reverts back to twice weekly from April.

Maybe they are not expecting the mass influx as predicted

Not from Moldovia! It's not in the EU.

The last time I looked, anyone who has a parent, grandparent or great grandparent who lived in Bessarabia (largely today's Moldova) between 1918 and 1940 can apply for a Romanian passport. The result is about 1 million Moldovans potentially having the right to claim EU citizenship

Have there been any whispers on whether anyone might pick up the IOM & JER routes vacated by Flybe?

I wondered if easyJet might have another go at JER from LTN; perhaps a 2 or 3 times a week seasonal service could be successful?

BOEING

I have heard a lot about this story, but at least they are trying to get jobs and seem to want employment, with quite a few as doctors, or lecturers in the piece written here.

"MINISTERS have green-lighted the sale of one of the two night flight time slots Cyprus Airways has at Heathrow airport, which could provide a boost for the ailing carrier".

They use to fly to Luton...

Grrr

Cyprus Airways only used Luton due to Cypriot protectionism back in the 1990's. Only airport allowed to send holidaymakers via charter flights was Luton from the London area. Excalibur, Air Via TU154's and plenty other tour operators/airlines that were never seen at Luton, turned up every Thursday.

Cyprus Airways sold some seats as scheduled, whilst most were sold to tour operators.

Ryanair - Trapani Route

I've just been looking at the Ryanair thread and I see that amongst the large number of routes cancelled by RYR for S14 is Trapani - Luton. The route has traditionally been operated by a Trapani based aircraft so hopefully this will be the only loss at Luton.

Cyprus in the 1990's - Buster it was Wednesday rather than Thursday. Wednesday was always "Cyprus Day".
