I take it all back. The GainJet seems to have nothing to do with La Compagnie. Why it's there I don't know. Some VIP trip happening. 757 reg SX-RFA.
Other plane on its way to Paris then on to Luton. ETD 23.45 but that looks unlikely too. I hope now they have both planes operational again that things will settle down and be a success for them.

Just reading on another forum, there was only 16 passengers on the LTN-EWR flight on the 20th May operated by the Hi-Fly A340...
The way this airline is operating makes no sense...
The money to fly that A340 across the pond, must be costing them a fortune. Surely it would make more sense to cancel the flight and put the passengers on a scheduled service from LHR. Or surely there would have been some spare capacity on the CDG-EWR service and the airline could have operated via LTN to pick them up.
Tonights flight is currently 6 hours delayed!

Been told by someone who has seen the load sheets that the aircraft have been carrying up to 70 passengers. Second hand info but make of it what you will. The airline is making best efforts. To cancel is the easy option.

Taking the easy option
Well they took the easy option tonight.
After 8 hours of being told the aircraft was on its way originally from EWR then from Perpignan via Paris - they told us at 11.00pm that the aircraft was actually still in maintenance in Perpignan.
Good luck to those transferring to tomorrows flight - we decided not to go with La Compagnie. I would advise others to do the same.
Will see how good they are at providing the promised refund and EU compensation.

Unfortunately their future seems to be written in stone already. What a let down the way they are operating. At least it was cool to see an A340 operating out of Luton eh?
On a sidenote the Gainjet 757 is pretty regular visitor, I have seen it plenty of times over the years.
Do we have any idea how VLM are doing? I hope it is going well for them.

New Runway
I have seen figures quoted as 9 Billion pounds being quoted to build a new runway at Gatwick (cheaper than Heathrow) should they be the preferred bidder for a new runway in the South East?
It can not be denied airlines will have to be charged more (passed onto customers) in order that the airport operator recoup costs to pay out for such a huge scheme.
With that thought in mind-could EasyJet revert to making Luton it's predominant base? In fact does Luton have the scope to accommodate an extra few dozen based aircraft?
Is Luton Airports operator prepared for such a scenario? I am aware that Carolyn Julia McCall- EasyJets boss is opposed to Gatwick being granted the new runway.
Even if Heathrow wins the new runway those passengers using it will equally be paying high fares (as they currently do) towards the airports investments!
In effect, could Luton Airport be a winner what ever the outcome as passengers will want to fly to London at cheaper prices as opposed to extortionate prices?

Carolyn McCall is on record as saying that she favours LHR over LGW for a new runway in the South East and that EZY would fly from LHR if it happens.
But I can't see how LTN could get to a position where it could be the airlines predominant base again. How would LTN accommodate these extra few dozen planes within their current expansion plans?
There's no reason to assume that LTN won't continue to become more and more orange as the airport's expansion happens but not on such a grand scale surely?

Fueling
Does anyone know what's going on with refueling at Luton recently? Yesterday (24/5) over a dozen easyJet aircraft, and several Ryanairs were delayed by times up to an hour due to a lack of refueling bowsers and staff. Apparently the delay to La Compagnie was also due to refueling problems.
Have there been problems in previous summers with refueling staff?

Would be nice to see a Monorail put in.
Also this video shows an angry La Compagnie customer asking when the plane will be going and why the fuel isn't on the aircraft.

Interesting that passengers are questioning the financial viability of La Compagnie and their ability to buy fuel. Regardless of the real issue, if passengers start to doubt the viability of an airline, the future is very bleak indeed.
As for a monorail, wasn't the original intention when the tunnel was first built, to run some kind of monorail to the terminal? If they can make it happen now, so much the better
