Out of interest, is the La Compagnie 757 bin loaded or loaded loose?
Forgive my lack of correct terminology Similarly I'm surprised that anyone at Luton is equipped to handle an A340. Is there a special tow bar that they need or is it shared with another of the Airbus family?

I think it's probably unlikely that there was already a 340-ready bar already at Luton but there's always ways around that... the aircraft operator could well have flown the correct bar out with the aircraft, or the handling agent (Swissport I think?) may have loaned one from another station, either their own company, or another agent or entity on airport. Given that Monarch engineering are on site there's probably an A330 bar knocking about and then it might just be a new shear pin that has to be sourced.
It's part of the operator's airfield approval process to identify and solve handling and equipment needs ahead of the first flight so it's a pretty well worn path. As a last resort the agent sometimes just has to buy the correct bar but it's rarely necessary.

Looking at the seating plan of that A340 on the Hi-Fly website, there is an awful lot of economy seats up-back, while everyone enjoys the seats up-front...
Any chance I can hitch a lift to NYC in the rear of the aircraft?
I'll be very quiet, they won't even notice me there and I'll even bring my own sandwich and drinks from Boots on-board!
I might nip up to the airport this weekend, if the A340's still operating the route, and watch those four little hair dryer engines scrap that big hunk of metal off of Luton's reasonably short runway.
I have travelled on the A340-300's with Gulf Air and Cathay Pacific in the past, and those aircrafts are not in any rush to get airborne, they were some of the most leisurely take-off's I have ever experienced!

The 343 isn't athletic- longest ground roll I experienced out of Delhi at +43C - 75 seconds. Speaking to the crew later they requested the long runway 29, apparently after ATC had been insistent that the shorter 27 was the departure runway- the commander reportedly told ATC that if they made him use 27 they might be faced with a smouldering wreck!
It works though- don't think there has been a hull loss and there was an EFATO out of Vienna I think.
Mods delete if this thread drift.

Apart from pre-work there is still not a hint of when the airport will get cracking on the £100m redevelopment, which was supposed to have started in the first quarter of this year. The first part will be the road upgrade so already the redevelopment is behind schedule and those delays are increasing daily.

Ryanair
"Copenhagen's mayor Frank Jensen has banned all city staff from flying Ryanair for official travel.
It means around 45,000 employees are no longer allowed to use the carrier for work trips."
Good for Easyjet but bad for Ryanair?

There didn't seem to be an outbound to Newark yesterday so what is this flight? And on what plane. A340 yesterday offloaded then left, heading for Brussels. If anything I imagine the 15.45 is a positioning flight coming in ready to be boarded for the trip out to NY.

Any idea where the La Compagnie Aircraft is ?
Anybody know where the La Compagnie aircraft is operating the LTN - EWR today - says inbound now due at 19.30 but cannot see how it was in EWR in the first place if it was in France for maintenance a few days ago and the HiFly aircraft operated the flight Wednesday ?

As far as I was aware there was no Thursday flight scheduled yesterday, therefore therefore there shouldn't be an arrival today, unless of course it is something to do with an aircraft positioning in for tonight's departure. Weird!!
Thursday flights start from 1 June.

La Compagnie
From my sources the aircraft in question is currently in Perpignan and is due to operate to Paris to collect a new flight crew. The aircraft is then operating to Luton to pick up the passengers for today's flight.

La Compagnie
Correct - Aircraft is in France - not in US.
So how a flight arriving from Perpignan via CDG (apparently) is displayed as arriving from EWR is beyond me.
Thanks for the info.
