I used to be a committee member on the airports passenger services sub committee, big issues then were baggage reclaim times, passport control and aircraft de-icing and the lack of de-icing equipment. The airport management were fully aware and somewhat frustrated that services that they had no control over gave the airport a negative view in passengers eyes but apart from giving the airlines data the airport had collected and having a moan to government about staffing levels at immigration there wasn't a great deal they could do.
What the airport does have full control over is being dealt with over the next two years with a larger terminal, more security gates, more baggage belts, more taxiways and a new pier.
