Hope it happens, whoever it "may" be......
Then all we need is the APD to be controlled by the Welsh Government as that will (hopefully) secure a long haul carrier too.....then we can all mock BRS haha.
May even see some long haul charters return too with TCX and TOM.
All exciting times ahead

we're not starting the 'mines bigger than yours' scenario again are we, it's getting a bit boring to the extent that when certain spotter types and wish lister's names appear, it's not worth opening as you know exactly what's coming.
cant we just have real rumours and news, much more interesting, not wishing to offend, though if I have my apologies

Having a low cost airline supposedly approaching CWL is news regarding its growth and being a rumour network site people are just curious as to who this airline could be.
I imagine we all want success for CWL and curious.....no harm intended and as this is a rumour network it's the best place to ask the questions

There is a rumours and news forum on Pprune , pipe dreams from reggie spotters should be posted there. CWL , Newquay and Bournemouth threads are full of hot air and wind , and quite frankly are embarrassing when compared to most posters on routes .

Devolution of APD
Interestingly, BRS have came out once again today to have a rant about the devolution of APD to Wales, and that they expect it to be announced by the Chancellor in some form in next month's budget.

The devolution of the APD is being mentioned more and discussed more at BRS than what it is in CWL or Wales as a whole.
If it's OK for Scotland and Northern Ireland to have it then surely this must apply for Wales too.....
The sooner it happens the better, let's hope we know more next month.

Well any control on APD would be beneficial and may entice a long haul carrier in.
I'm just saying If Scotland & Northern Ireland have control then it's only fair that Wales does too

FR have tonight operated a crew training flight inbound from DUB, outbound to BTS from CWL.
I wonder if this is of any further signifance ? Seems a tad odd, especially since BRS is only a little further on, and a regular FR airport ?
Interestingly enough, every destination this aircraft has flown to in recent times has been a FR destination, or a new base/route at that. Might just be a coincidence, but it seems odd why you'd train at an airport you have hardly any time flying into.

Could this be the reason for the FR tonight ?? I wonder if there is some sort of deal in the pipeline.....Or is it just FR using the airport as a training flight as per other airlines have and do ??
Six Nations
Really? Oh well - there could still be a myriad other reasons for a training flight other than a new route/base (look at the number of training flights MME/PIK get... ).

Ryanair
Interesting that the aircraft routed Dublin-Cardiff-Bratislava yesterday in that the Ryanair forum is reporting a new BTS route (Eilat) announced today and an additional based aircraft at BTS from March next year.
Ryanair no longer operates Bristol-BTS. They axed it at the end of summer 2013 after a couple of years in operation despite load factors well into the 90s% most months that summer - the yield again presumably - but at least the route has a history of decent passenger numbers from the Severnside catchment.
easyJet now operates to Vienna from BRS so BTS could be a starter if the airline is intent on developing a CWL network. If full APD devolution to Wales is announced in next month's Budget I would be extremely surprised if a significant Ryanair presence does not eventuate at CWL.

Seems a tad strange to me that EI-SEV then operated CWL-BTS and today a coincidence that a new BTS has been annonced for Summer 2017 along with routes in the interim.
I think CWL may on for some similar news, although perhaps not a base, but I see no reason as to why it couldn't be ?

Yes totally agree, once the APD devolution happens then I'm sure there will be an increase in routes and hopefully a resumption on long haul too.
As I've said before, if it's good enough for Scotland and Northern Ireland then it has to apply to Wales too.....even if it is just initially for long haul routes.
Next month may be very interesting indeed and I'm sure BRS management will continue their bleating and moaning about it.
IF Ryanair do offer a few more destinations, would not have thought BTS be at the top of the list but as explained previously there was a market there before from BRS..time will tell
